So 1 semester I had a 2.4! worst I had ever done in my life. Mom got cancer so my grades really suffered. If I take those classes over and get an A, my school transcrpit will show that I got an A. There will be no sign if repeat.

But if I take the classes over again at another school. (I want to take them during the summer and my school doesnt offer alot of the classes over the summer. I would only be able to take 3 of 6 classes)
So if I go to another school to take the classes and I get an "A" will AMCAS just add the class to my list or combine the grade from the 2 different schools?

I plan on applying in july, so WHAT SHOULD I DO?

It doesn't matter where you take the classes, AMCAS will still use both attempts on the class when calculating your GPA. So you can retake those classes, but they'll never be completely gone.

Without knowing what your overall GPA, I'm not sure if you should be considering this, but DO schools will ignore previously attempted classes and just replace your old grade with the new one.

my sGPA is a 3.2 and if i take 18 credits over again i should be getting a 3.7...
At my undergrad institution they replace the old grade with the new 1. So how will amcasknow I took it twice

I find it hard to believe that your transcript would show no indication that you've taken a class over again. At the very least it would look like you took really light semesters - say you retook 2 classes and they just replaced previous grades, wouldn't it look like you only took 2 that semester?

Get past it. The worst I ever did in school was three years after I obtained my college degree. I contemplated a career change, albeit a career I didn't actually want, so I went back to school during some given free time. I lost interest, and I lost the time to go. I changed jobs, was glad of that, and I moved on with life. That semester included a B, a C, and three Ds, lol. Outside that, when school mattered, I was a good student. That bad semester was four years ago so I actually got my degree seven years ago. Admissions can frown on it all they like, but I'm not giving up what I really want to do. At the time, I just felt like I was no longer in a position to go the medical route so I tried to pick something else I thought I could do, and I was fooling myself. I would've hated it, and I did hate the classes (upper level accounting).

The worst thing I ever did was graduate.

Thanks for you input.
I REALLY dont like my undergrad institution and I didnt want to go through the whole transfer thing after my 1st year.

So I really need to leave this school. I might take 18 credits of upper level during the summer and transfer the credits to my undergrad. That should make my gpa trend better, and also "dilute" the 2.4 semester.haha

Only downside is that the summer grades wont be out until aug 18th, so this means my app wont be verified until mid sept. Do you think this is a good idea?

Dude, your mom got cancer. If your grades are solid every other semester, and an admissions committee rejected you on the basis of that one bad semester, I probably wouldn't want to go to that school anyway since they obviously have no compassion. I don't think you'll have a problem. Cancer is pretty legit so I have a hard time believing that a committee would reject you on the basis of the one semester given your circumstances. Just make sure you explain it and that you've recovered since then.

Moral of the story: roll with the punches. a lot of people have weaknesses in their application, you just gotta get through it and show you're qualified to become a doctor.
