Good evening, everyone! I have been following this forum since April, and it has been INCREDIBLY helpful. =) I am finally getting ready to apply to graduate schools (PsyD programs this fall, MFT/MSW programs in the winter). Let's hope I'll get accepted SOMEwhere! I know how competitive these programs can be, especially in California.
Anyway, I have only recently begun to entertain the idea of applying to MSW programs. Whenever I think of social workers, I think of administrative work. That is NOT what I want to do for the rest of my life. I understand that there will be paperwork, but I love the idea of having a career in therapy/counseling/clinical work.
So, I'm thinking I would want to become a LCSW, right? And if that's the way to go, I would also want to apply to programs with strong focuses on mental health, right? Which CSU (California State University) MSW programs would offer the most experience for someone who eventually wants to become a LCSW?
(And since I know people are thinking this... I'm considering MSW programs vs. MFT programs because I honestly don't know where I'll be living 5-10 years from now. LCSW credentials seem to "transfer" from state-to-state better than LMFT credentials... but please, correct me if I am mistaken.)
Thank you! =)
