Hello all,
kinda in a bit of dilemma that may potentially be resolved here in the future or could stay as is.. I'm stuck on 3 schools and know where I would ideally like to be but the financials complicate things. To say the least, I am extremely fortunate to be where I am but it makes this decision no easier for me!
Here is the deal:
CU:
+dream school
+close to family and significant other's family
+ changing to true P/F!!
+ Strong program with good reputation
+ Home is where the heart is
+ incredible health professions campus/ dope library
- Cost
Applied to 4 in-house scholarships, results in April. Cost is lurking around $37k/yr not including COL. Total COA could be $64k/yr with no scholarship.
OUWB:
+ Great Hospitals/ Strong reputation for Beaumont Health
+ Smaller Class size, more intimate
+ Good vibes and family like environment
+ Cross sectional Curriculum was appealing to me and love the mission of the school
+++ Offered a Full Tuition Scholarship +++++
- H/P/F with a 70% attendance required if you want to Honor 🙁
- Lesser known and newer program
- Michigan is far and Significant Other's industry would require her to work in Detroit
- Basement Library
VCU:
+ great vibes and newer campus that I loved
+ true P/F 1st 2 years
+ Cool set up for lecture that will function well for my learning style
+ I love Richmond and close to the DMV
+ Great library and open study areas
+ Solid program and good match
+ offered partial merit scholarship brings OOS tuition down to $33k/yr
- Still far from home and family
- Cost still is high
- Richmond may not be best for Significant Other's work
I feel I could be happy at any of these programs but don’t want to settle. Coming from a Low SES family I would be lying saying cost wasn't on my mind and cost might supersede everything. I have no clue what to do. Any thoughts are welcomed.
