Hi all,

I have not seen a thread about the number of dental school applicants in a while. I only applied to a non-AADSAS school but was just curious to the current number of applicants. There was all of this talk months ago about there being a much higher number of applicants for this cycle. Did this hold true? For all of you late applicants could you please list the date you applied and your AADSAS number. Thanks

I didnt know we had a #. I looked at my online app again and couldnt find one. Where is it?

AADSAS submitted my app. Dec. 12. #6841

We can safely assume that there are 7000 applications
this year!

What was last years number?

So where is the number shown exactly? I doublechecked and still dont see a number, it does have a date on when it was sent though, as well as in infosource.

I dont know if your AADSAS # is shown anywhere online but i do know that you can find it on top of the course work report that AADSAS sends you with all your scores and grades. it should be at the very upper right side (AADSAS ID). hope you still have that sheet. 🙂

I think that's the only place you can find it.

I applied in the summer....# 1572!

7000 applicants is actually a very good number. it might even be lower than last year.

4300 (spots)/7000 (applicants) * 100 = 61.42% enrollment rate!

Can we safely assume that those applying after December have little to no chance? I don't mean to sound rude, but in my case, its good for me if so.

Also, is 7000 a good number? And is it a wise prediction? I just hope there isnt a huge flux of 1000 applicants of procrastinators.

From ADEA book, it puts us back near the year 2000, when there were 7700 and 4200 enrollees.

I wonder if there is any extra points for whoever is being Aadsas number 1.

Why would you be rude? Everyone knows that the early bird gets the worm. The late bird gets the finger, right?😀

I never got one, unless my folks lost it and didnt forward it to me.
*sigh* Parents.🙄

I tried as hard as possible to be that guy. Didnt quite work out. Submitted in October and the number they gave me was 5290. Almost.

I was told at my interview that there is an increase of about 20% in the number of applicants (nationally) compared to last year.

Tough to say because there are non-AADSAS applicants too.
Probably another 1000 there.

It is true that schools have a higher number of applicants this year, but the AADSAS number being around only 7000 shows that many people like me decided to apply to a lot of schools rather the traditional 10.
And those who applied to non-AADSAS schools, have probably did submit AADSAS to apply to another schools, so they are included in that number. There remain very few who only applied directly to the schools, which are statistically, negligible!.. sorry!

Comet

the 7000 number refers to raw AADSAS applicants and does not represent an individual applicant total of all the schools...therefore it doesn't matter how many schools people applied to on average.

so unless the people who applied to non-AADSAS schools ONLY applied to non-AADSAS schools, then they would not be included in the 7000...so comet is right in the fact that it is probably statisticaly irrelevant

jojo88 is right. also, if the increase based on the aadsas applicants from last year and this year, then the non-aadsas applicants wouldn't make any difference.

Just wanted to let you know that I submitted my application on-line on November 17th. It was around the 5500's.
this post was in 2002. Since he submitted in november, the aadsas would likely send his application in December, around the same time as speter33 but his # is 6800's. The increase is well above 20%.

Mard,

speter SUBMITTED his application on Dec 12th, which is a moth later than November 17th (yes, they applied in different years). so if someone submits his application a week before Christmas, chances are that it wont get processed till after the new year.

Also, there are lots of things that you are assuming here.... did they both submit online application? were their applications complete? was there anything to delay the process of their application being submitted to schools? and so on...

So, i think increase of ~1000 applications from mid November to mid December is normal.

Comet,

Please read speter33's posts more carefully. The other guy's post was in December as well. There were no assumptions to be made once the AADSAS had submitted the application.
cheers,
Mard

Can someone out there who actually submitted their Aadsas application in december give us their aadsas number please?

People submitted in Decemeber might not received their "yellow form" yet.

I applied at the end of Dec.and my number was like 7379 or something like that.

Thanks a lot.

So is this right on target? 7,700 in 2001. When is the end of the application submissions?

it took me a while to figure out what my aadsas # was, it begins with 20040 and then the 4 digit number after that is your #...it must be really high now, since I applied in Sept and was in the four thousands.

Any updates with Jan-Feb numbers?

I believe it is the end of March - beginning of April.
