I am an Animal Science grad with a 3.17 GPA, returned Peace Corps Volunteer, and am taking the GRE this week - where I assume I will do average, if not above average. I'm applying to 5 schools (4 Midwest, and SGU). My lower GPA was mostly due to a Public Service minor where I took a lot of ridiculous PolSci classes that I hated. Other than that, my difficult science classes were generally B+/A- range
As someone with A LOT of varied experience, solid eLORs, and an emphasis on research and public health vet med... What do you think my chances are of getting into veterinary school?
In the Peace Corps I've worked for the United Nations FAO as an extensionist... going around with a FAO veterinarian teaching vax and deworming to local villages. I also set up an entire milk processing system for a homeless shelter. I can speak 2 non-native languages fluently (Spanish and Tagalog)
In undergrad, had some fairly impressive internships with animal health companies...
I just would like to stir up some opinions. My boss told me she got in with a 3.15, but I know it's sometimes the luck of the year and school applied to (she was a contract student from a state with no vet school)
Thoughts?!
