I know this is a bit early to post but I thought I might do it any to gather thoughts and formulate a plan. I’m currently a sophomore undergrad at Texas A&M University right now with my primary major as Biomedical Science and my second major as Entomology (will be finished within the next year). I’m also working on my minor in anthropology, which I’ve worked out to only needing to take one course per semester. My overall GPA by the end of this semester will be a 3.3, having pulled myself out of the grave from a 2.7 freshman year. I’ve calculated that if I played my cards right I could get it up to a 3.5 by the end of my junior year and with one summer class. I have lots of clinical experience working through school in EMS to pay bills. I’ve accumulated 100 hours of shadowing one of the top ENT physicians in Houston last summer and will be doing so again this summer with one the top ENT physicians in the region. I’ve also had experience as an officer in a health organization on campus as well as other leadership roles. This summer I’ll be going through a KAPLAN MCAT course and will be dedicating all of my free time to that. The only disadvantage I see myself in are the two C’s I made in intro Bio and the one C I have in Organic Chemistry I, but I plan on retaking those next summer. I’ve made all A’s in Gen. Chem, Physics I (B in Physics II) and Organic Chemistry II. My grades have improved every semester. If I can manage to make around a 32-33 for my MCAT, what are my chances of getting into med school? If good, which schools would I have the best shot at? Or should I wait to apply after another year (senior year) with an even higher GPA?

Are you a Texas resident? If so, chances for matching are solid if you can get that 3.5/33.
