Hey,
I need help from some locals/current students! 🙂
I'm a potential member of the 2016 class at UCSF. Recently, I started looking into off-campus housing, even though it's probably too early right now. Anyway, I started with the links given by UCSF in the email: Places4Students.com features some of the most expensive listings I've seen, so I don't find it terribly helpful. HousingMaps seems to have A LOT of listings, but I'm not sure how to compare the areas (and which areas are considered "unsafe"). Essentially, I don't need to be right next to the school. As long as I'm next to a frequent bus or along the BART, I'm sure I can conveniently get to UCSF everyday.
I'd really appreciate it if a current UCSF student with experience in housing could help me with some questions and maybe provide some 'insider' information that can't be easily found by online research. What are some of the nice and relatively inexpensive (eg. not walking distance but next to frequent public transit) places I could look into?
It's highly unlikely but my parents might be open to the idea of buying a condo in the area. What are some of the best locations to buy from (in terms of accessibility to school and safety)?
Lastly, if anyone here is looking for a roommate/subletting a room in Aug or Sept, I'd be interested as well.
Please feel free to pm me. Thank you so much!👍

P.S. Anything about UCSF I should know?
