I need some advice. Recently found out I failed CE with all my apps already sent out. So far I received 0 interviews. I will be retaking CE in a 3 weeks. This was a real shocker to me, was not expecting this at all. Did I just throw away my future? I am applying for TRI and PM&R. I really need some advice on how to proceed with my residency application from this point and on. Constructive criticism is much appreciated.

A 14 hour bump (on the weekend no less) dramatically decreases the likelihood of anyone caring enough to respond to you.

A failed Step is going to hurt your chances...no question...but you know that. Do better on the retake and apply to all of the AOA PM&R programs and some DO internships as well. Hopefully you can still land an MD PM&R gig...but you need to have a back up plan

I agree with j4pac--the failed CE will definitely hurt you. However, it sounds like from your post you might have found out after you sent out your applications? If that's the case, assuming you didn't auto-release your scores, then it's not quite as bad as it wouldn't affect getting interview invites. It would still affect your ranking, though hopefully by that time you will have a passed CE that helps minimize the damage of a failed one.

If PM&R is absolutely what you want to do and you prefer any (even below-average) PM&R program to a FM/IM/etc program, then apply to every single PM&R program out there.

Thank you all for the response, I really appreciate them. I not sure where I can select the option for auto release scores. In case if I chose auto release, will I have to let the programs know once I have passed the CE? Or will that automatically see it from the update?

There hasn't been an autorelease option since the 2012-2013 cycle.

Well, I guess its safe to say that programs have already found out that I failed CE hence i got 0 interview invites at this point. For AOA programs, will it be too late to receive interview around Dec/Jan?

Unless you manually re-released your transcript after you received your score (or had initially submitted your application after your score came out), programs have no clue that you failed.

Sorry I did not make it clear. I submitted eras after I found the failure. I was told by many that to turn in ERAS asap...

Yeah, since you could not have autoreleased there must be other aspects of your app that are causing problems.

I submitted the app after the failing score came out. I hope the rest of the app is fine.
