I'm currently majoring in exercise physiology and I was reading that "health science" majors are not accepted as often as hard science or liberal arts majors. I could switch to biology and stay an extra semester. Would it be wise to do that? I have an excellent gpa, so grades are not an issue but I want to have a competitive application.

It doesn't matter what your major is.

Probably true at some high tier private schools, particularly if they think your major was not that rigorous. I mean, I think Johns Hopkins would probably prefer a chemistry major from an Ivy League school with a 3.8 over a sports science/kinesiology major from a regional state U with a 3.8 GPA. However, your major overall will not matter much for most schools. You can switch if you want, but I'd put more effort into the MCAT score, getting good grades in classes like organic chem., and getting the right medical volunteer work.
