just wondering, when schools have a gpa cutoff, does that apply to overall gpa, or both science and overall? I have a 3.05 overall, but a 2.95 science, so would I be screened out at schools with a 3.0 cutoff because of my science? thanks for the help, and if anyone has a list of schools by their cutoffs, could you please post it?

the CIB has some cutoffs but maybe not all. so if a school doesn't have them listed, you should probably check their website. not all schools have minimums, though. and they usually state that it's for the science or the cumulative. although from the top of my head, the highest minimums for schools that have them is 2.75 in both, but the recommendeds are higher.

I believe all of the Touro's have a 3.0 minimum; however the OP may be able to get around that with their overall GPA as I'm not sure if they look at both overall and science or just overall.

i love how you only bold the last part, even though i said "from the top of my head" as in, "i'm not 100% positive on this, so don't count it as fact"

but at any rate, looking through the cib, this is what it says for tourocom,
"...the student should have at least a B average in the sciences and overall."

to me, 'should' sounds more like a recommendation than a requirement.

for tucom-ca it says, "Typically, successful candidates earn Science and Cumulative GPA’s of 3.0 or greater and have obtained a minimum combined
MCAT score of 23 or better."

gpa isn't mentioned in the cib for tuncom.

so i guess i'm still technically right, since neither school has them listed as a required minimum, but rather a helpful recommendation or bench mark for success.

i looked on the websites, and tourocom doesn't mention gpa (or at least i couldn't find any mention of it), but nevada and cali campuses both state the typical successful candidate thing followed by "though the Admissions and Standards Committee will, on a case by case basis, look below these figures."

I only highlighted that part to make it quick and easy for people to see what I was making a claim about. I wasn't correcting you just clarifying as most people's post on SDN are off the top of our heads unless a link or something is included. I meant no offense. 😎

*stops being offended* it just looked like you were out to get me when i was just trying to help someone. no hard feelings, k? i'm not trying to get myself banned on here for not playing well with others .

thanks for the help guys, texastriathlete, was your science similar to mine (2.95?) or lower...

it's just so frustrating to know that I am .05 points away from the safe cutoff (ugh)

My science ended up in the 3.5 neighborhood. My non-science was like 2.3
