Hello I don't know if this has been addressed yet. But would it be possible for individuals who have recently been admitted to doctoral programs to upload their cv's. I was just curious about the experience and so on of students of admitted programs.

I'm happy to talk about my experiences but I'm kind of uncomfortable posting my CV. I do want to maintain some sense of anonymity. I imagine many people will feel the same way.

sounds like you got accepted, syzergy--congrats!

Ok I was interested in whether most individuals accepted to these programs already have publications because I do not.

You could probably actually figure this out yourself by going through the current acceptance thread, noting the members with acceptances and looking up their profiles on the WAMC thread (for those who posted on WAMC). Do same for previous year as well.

The importance of pubs really depends on the programs you applied to. Some places that don't have a research focus might not care, others may think of grad school as the place to publish, while others may expect a high level of skill before entering their program. I was accepted my 1st time around with 2-3 poster presentations and 1 symposium to my name.

I had 3 posters (not first author, a ways down the line 🙂) and no publications. But I did have 2 years of work experience as a full-time research coordinator. Only one acceptance (clinical PhD), 2 rounds of applications. Now a happy grad student!

As people before mentioned, it all depends. It could be as arbitrary as most years they accept people without pubs, but this year there happens to be a freak of nature applying with 5 pubs. This whole process is very arbitrary.

Thanks!! Yes, I've heard back from one school post-interview and it's an acceptance! I'm very happy that no matter what happens over the next few interviews, at least I know I'll be going to grad school. 🙂

But yeah, I have a first author pub in press, third author under review. A bunch of presentations both first author and co-authored. I was definitely in the minority though. Most applicants do not have publications.

Congrats!

Glad the famed interview invite thread manger luck continues! 😀

see, that's so funny. as an undergrad i really got the impression that you had to have pubs to get accepted into clinical. everyone seemed so ambitious and accomplished--it was overwhelming.
