Hey guys,

Is there an easy way to associate or generalize heart sounds (S3/ S3/ all kinds of murmur) with appropriate position or maneuver or whatever the clues from questions? I am doing UW and seem that whenever I listened to the media, I get them wrong because I heard it different than what it is. What are your experiences with that? If you have nice association/explanations, I'd really appreciate it.

when I was doing UW, it explains that valsava maneuver decreases venous return to left ventricle (I get that), and that increases murmur sound associated with mitral valve prolapse (huh??) and also stated that the opposite is true if maneuver increases venous return. (.....Well, I don't get that also and if you could explain it with analogy, that would really help!!)

Thanks!

Not sure about "increases murmur sound", but the third post here makes sense.

Thanks! I never thought of clicks in the Pressure curve like that until now... so the bottom line here is for Mitral Prolapse, the midsystole click is closer to S2 when there's a increased preload (bc it takes longer to click/ prolapse during ventricular systole). If there's a decreased preload, the MC is heard as soon as S1 is heard.
