CVS low volume stores

I know the consensus here is that CVS will work you to death. There's a specific store that has a pharmacist opening and an average script count of 500 per WEEK. Would a low volume CVS store be alright to work at or is there something I'm not considering?

You'll probably only have 1 tech which means a LOT of running around for you. You'll pretty much have to do and know everything. You will have decent downtime though, but be ready when the rush happens (long lines, lots of calls, etc.) - this is also why I think staffing purely based on script volume is dumb.

I'd argue the busiest stores are easier to staff at because you'll have lots of techs (95% of the time you'll be in one spot just verifying) and have pharmacist overlap.

I started out at a CVS that did 680 a week. I had A tech 8 hours a day monday through friday. It doesnt seem bad, but you're solo for about 3 to 4 hours. The main frustration is that once you have more than 1 or 2 items/people competing for your attention, the entire process becomes saturated and comes to a screeching halt.

It all depends on how good your technician is and if your tech is great, then the job is like night and day different compared to busy stores.

I think it would be great... the only problem is that if you are new to CVS and don't know the system you WILL be alone at times meaning if you run into an issue or don't know how to do something you're on your own.

Have never heard of a CVS store ever closing down. I have stores in my district that do less than 1000 scripts per week and they have been open for over 10 years

A lot of these low volume stores are in rich suburbs so the profit margins are higher than usual. You will get a lot of dermatologist prescriptions that insurance will not cover so customers pay cash.

Article here mentions cvs closing stores. They only have 1 store in Toledo, ohio (actually 2 since the Target merger) despite a large population. CVS also closed stores in Bowling Green, Tiffin, Defiance, and Monroe.

as long as no drive thru, you'll be fine. if there is a drive-thru, you might struggle when you got no help

When being alone, expect anything...drive thru, drop off, pick up, insurance rejection, Doctor call, & X pharmacy calls hit you all at once more often than you would think statistically from happening simulataneously. Prioritizing order is a must. Hell, giving influenza shots solo is rough when patients start barking at you for pick up

I concur on the having the position being not so stable long term with such low volume
