Hi guys,
Have 2 questions. Any insight is appreciated.

1) do you think CVS will hire full time pharmacists from those who worked as seasonal (flu) part time pharmacists this year?

2) what are the chances of becoming a permanent pharmacist after doing seasonal prior authorization pharmacist? (For OptumRx).. Is it more likely for them to just use me as a temp for 4 months and not extend the hire period?

Honestly, if either one of them gave me a permanent position I would go with it, but both are temp positions so I really need insights from you guys.

Thank you all

According to my friends in PA and NY, cvs has opening all the times..

I think what they meant to say was that they were short-staffed. That doesn’t mean they’re hiring.

No, they are actively looking for rphs. Around Pittsburgh/ Queens area.

While I have zero insights on both companies, it appears that CVS is aggressively hiring pharmacist to prepare for the incoming COVID vaccine so I guess you’d have a better shot of sticking around longer there.

So the best solution is to stay unemployed? Wonderful!
The fact that OP is asking his question is a dead giveaway that he is happy being unemployed, and probably still living at home with his rich parents or something. You wouldn't have the "I won't apply if these jobs aren't permanent" mentality if you were desperate.

OP wants more permanent position. So, s/he very much needs job.

Beggars can't be choosers. If you just need A job then the fact that it's temporary or not should be irrelevant to your decision on whether you should apply.

Ive been with cvs (although not seasonal) and Optum/United healthcare as contract. You have a better chance at getting full time with cvs. Optum keeps on maybe the top person in the contract group that season long term if that and part of it is politics (do as they always say, never bring new ideas, keep your head down, don’t overachieve, learn quickly)

Yup. It’s all politics. I’d take CVS over crappy Optum any day. Plus CVS is a better company to work for.

Unless there are some regional differences in flu shot hours, CVS seasonal jobs are a week away from ending. So if you want to project the timeline of Covid vaccine, then you can figure out their next season... Personally I do not see these jobs leading to full time. It could, in hard to staff areas, but then you shouldn't be seasonal to begin with.

I temped with OptumRx and got hired fulltime but that was 8 years ago and not in PA. I had a friend that got hired on last year that began as a PA contractor.
