So my current semester just end and grades are out...I got a D on physic 1, is medical school still viable? I was taking ochem2, human genetic and physic while working full time with two little ones. I spend countless of hours studying and practicing but for some reason I cannot comprehend physic. My semester end with Ochem:A, human genetic:A, physic😀 ( I was 0.8% from C but the Professor refuse to give me a C, claiming it is unfair to other students). Any advise is welcome.

To apply for medical school, you need at least a C, so you have to retake the course.

No problem, just retake the course when you can, and work hard to score an A.

The thought of retaking the class again is terrifying..I hope somewhere in that professor's heart he feel some type of sympathy and give me a C lol.

Retaking a class is not ideal, but its not as bad as it sounds.

Take it with a different professor if possible. Get help with any thing you don't understand. Use office hours/learning center

Retake, but before retake, try getting ready by watching videos, reading notes or finding a tutor. But second time around you have to have an A.

How universal is the rule to "have to earn an A" the second time. I feel like I know people who retook courses after C/D/F and earned a B, and generally did fine. I think I've even heard of a case where someone got an "F", then an "C+" and got accepted.

However, of course the safest and most logical approach is to get an "A" after a retake, but there are situations where it seems to not destroy your chances.

I one retakes an "F", gets a "C+", then takes upper level coursework and earns a "B or A", it almost just seems like a slow upward trend.

I don't think it's 100% that strict to get an A the second time. When I wrote that, I thought that this might raise questions. I was thinking to write "at least a B".

It is best to aim and do everything possible to get an A.

If OP were to go from D to B after retake, then earn an A in quantum chemistry/quantum mechanics (something with a lot of physics), then that would show an upward trend.

Not ideal, but at least it would be an upward trend.

I agree that "A" after a retake is most ideal of course, and most safe.

Thanks for the advice fellas.
