Do you think a D in college algebra and economics will carry much weight as far as discrediting me? They obviously affect me a LOT on my overall GPA, by a massive .1 of a point- huge considering I have 120+ hours
I did not like math, but that wasnt the reason I got a D....basically I did not go to class or study, or gave a crap.
I got a B in calculus 1, and As on calculus 2,3, and linear algebra---obviously I know my algebra by now, I have even come to genuinely love math.
And the economics grade was from when I thought i wanted to be a business major and missed a test. Then I was so consumed by other things that I even missed the drop date, then the professor allowed me to take the missed test, and missed the missed testl!!! At least I didnt get an F, the D is actually an accomplishment as I see it.

Well obviously you've shown capability in math. So I think your fine honestly.

They'll probably see it as you doing poorly in those two courses.

How do 2 D's only bring your GPA down 0.1!

I would definitely think up some better explanations for them if your asked about it during your interviews. Missing a test twice is pretty irresponsible, whether you care about the class or not.

Most likely he got A's in all classes! Thats helps alot!

Well I don't really believe that they would see this as an upward trend in math. I think they would see it as you having the ability to pass those two classes but not putting in the effort. You obviously have retaken these classes and gotten a better grade since you moved on with math. At least at my schools you cannot go forward without at least a C. If not then retake those classes to prove you can ace them.I don't think this will stop you from getting in to a medical school or anything.

AMCAS also gives you a place to explain poor grades. 🙂 Plus, it's not like D'd orgo or something like that.

Thats good to know, because even though those two Ds are my lowest grades I got some explaining to do in some other freshman classes in which i got some Cs- still during my irresponsible, wandering days. Outside of my freshman year grades are good though.
