I asked if i had to retake it, the secretary said no. i withdrew from orgo II this semester (all happy) so just b/c i'm anal i called again today and spoke iwth taryn croot and she said if i don't retake it for C or better i can't matriculate!!!!
Thank god I called. So i had to haul ass back to NCC and beg to be put back into the class i had withdrawn from. go figure.

it is so scarey that i was happy as pie and if i didn't call again i would have been tossed out come august!!

Not only does a D+ not count, a C- doesn't either. I had to take 2nd semester physics twice... all for the sake of what amounted to a single late homework assignment. Ugh.

Um. You have to get a C or above in any prerequisite. This is written all over pretty much every application and school admissions website. You must have not been paying attention.

Good luck.

It depends on how your school defines a C-.

Anything 2.0 or above (70 or above) is acceptable.

it makes me very nervous that they didn't notify you that you would not be able to matriculate until you called them more than once... when were they planning to let you in on the fact that you have to take Organic II before August?? It's ok if there is a C- in something like Genetics, right? the lowest grade i have in a one of the required course is Organic II, which is a C.

does this apply to non pre-req's as well? Because I have a D+ in an English Creative Writing class I took a few years back because of 2 late assignments.

NYCOM admission staff is the worst ever.
You are lucky.

This criteria is spelled out on every school website.

how about for a non-pre req. class though, is a D+ acceptable or does the 'C or above' apply to those courses as well.

It depends on the school.

They would have told her upon reviewing her transcripts. We are required to send them before matriculation. Yes it would suck to find out when it is too late.

Eanisis78,
Thanks for the heads up. Don't get that senioritis!

thank hunt!!! i'll be coming ot you with specific orgo q's
it is a little scarey, but if they didn't get my transcripts reviewed until may i would be totally screwed!!
As for an english D+ i guess it is okay unless it is party of t he mandatory 6 credits of english to be accepted. i just spoke with another student who is going to nycom and he received a D+ in gen chem and they didn't tell him!!!!
a little scarey and now tomorrow i start orgo.. son of a bitch i tell ya!!

I am still a long way off (about 2 years) from even applying unfortunately, but how can I find out if NYCOM will accept my D+ in English? I'm trying to get a move on retaking all my classes and getting my pre-req's done cause I don't want to waste anymore time, I'm too old.

I thought you had to have a C in every required class in order to matriculate? Actually, I had thought orgo was required for the MCAT...?

Go to NYCOMs website, and look under admission requirements--or something along that line. It should say which classes are pre-req's and those are the ones you have to have a C or above in. The school I want to go to does include English classes, so it could be the same at NYCOM.

the more you do this the less seriously you will be taken as a legitimate user. Those who troll around to start flame wars and antagonize others are not highly regarded around here. Regardless of what sort of grudge or inferiority complex you have, this is not the way to behave. Get a grip and find more constructive uses for your time. Are you really that bored that you read all the class threads? or only the NYCOM ones, to make yourself feel better?

i went to the NYCOM website and it states the number of credits and which classes are requirements. It does not state what should be the minimum grade.

maybe it is on another page?

You're right, I couldn't find it either. Isn't it the norm, though, to have to get at least a C in pre-req classes?? It did list that you need a year sequence of english, so to answer William's question, the D+ might not be acceptable.

ok so i that D+ i had was in English 2 that I took back at my community college...can I re-take English 2 and my new school I'm at now to replace the old community college one, or does it have to be from there?

it can be from any school but be sure they are comparable in course content/credit hours(if possible)

You can retake it anywhere. It doesn't have to be done at the same college you originally took it. Note: make sure your retake is equivalent (i.e., if the college you went to will take the current class as a transfer for the same thing you took) before retaking it.
