i have a 3.49 gpa now (used to have 3.6), because of a D and 2 C's i got last term. i am a senior and mostly got A's, A-'s and B+'s throughout college. Last term was the first time i got anything under a B-. Will the D and a W i got really lower my chances of getting into dental school? oh yea, i got a 22/19 on my DAT. thanks for the help.

(basically, i wanted to know if having a D and W on ur transcript will really lower ur chances of getting in)

Personally, from what I have seen, heard and experienced I don't believe it will hurt you much at all. The fact that you have been successful in your academic career and scored very well on your DAT will speak volumes to admin committees. They will ask you what happened during the D and W semester. They realize that things happen. If you earned D's and W's every other semester that would be a different story, but getting them once shouldn't hurt you.

Do well in your interviews, get some observing time in (if you haven't already), and you should be in great shape!!

Good luck!

My two cents.

Nobody asked about the W on my transcript. Basically, I dropped the class a couple days after the deadline...not a big deal (especially since it wasn't even a science class.)
Your DAT score will probably make up for that D.
Your GPA is good too so they might just ask that you explain the D during your interview.
