could some one please help with this ?
during the lateral movement ( right or left) what is the placement of the supporting cusps and guiding cusps in what grove does what lie from which point does it start and where does it end
mesiobuccal cusp of the maxillary
'' '' mandible
mesiolingual '' '' ''
'' '' '' mandible
oblique ridge placement in lateral movement
thank you

hi gls,
the answer u want cannot be written in a post, it will need an entire book to be written
ur answer is in the da decks.

hi gls

I agree with mkot...its mentioned in the decks or if you take a look at the tutorials forum am sure you can get your ans

I will attempt to answer this. Hope it helps:

example 1 " Lateral Contacting Movements"[/B]

Max. Diagram( you have to get a picture of this in frontof you to understand)

Teeth = MAX. Quardrent
Arrows= Mandibular movement

and when:

Teeth = Mand. Quardrent
Arrows= Max Movement

note : when you see
- arrow pointing straight up or down = working side lateral movement
- arrow pointing diaganal up or down = non working lateral movement
- arrow pointing staight forward with Max quard shown = Mand
Protrusion
- arrow pointing straight forward with Mandible quard shown = Max
protrusion.
- arrow pointing staright back with Max quard shown = Mand retrusion
- arrow pointing staright back with Mand quard shown = Max retrusion

Now
rules that aply to :

I ) WORKING SIDE MAX AND OR MAND.
1) CONDYLE ROTATES
2) CUSPS MOVE IN A PURE LATERAL DIRECTION
3) ARROWS THAT REPRESENT MAND. CUSP MOVE TOWARDS THE BUCCAL SURF.OF MAX. TEETH WHICH IS AWAY FROM THE MIDLINE

4) ARROWS THAT REPRESENT MAX CUSP MOVE TOWARD THE LINGUAL/PALATAL SURF OF MAND. TEETH WHICH IS TOWARDS THE MID LINE

A) On the working side the Guiding Cusps move through or into Embrasuresand Grooves they opposein the opposite dentition

B) working side the Holding cusps/ supporting cusps also move through the embrasures and or Grooves of these cusps BUT NOT TIP TO TIP

II) NONWORKING SIDE

1) NON WORKING SIDE MOVEMENTS IS THE SIDE FROM WHICH THE MAND. IS MOVING.

2) THE CONDYLES MOVE FOWARD AND DOWNWARD AND MEDIALLY ON THE ARTICULATING EMINECE

3) NON WORKING SIDE DOES NOT CONTACT DURING THE LATERAL CONTACTING MOVEMENTS BECAUSE MAND. CONDYLES MOVE DOWN ON THE ARTICULAING EMINECE.

NOW

A) When you have a MAND. Diag. with Maxillary arrows
Teeth = mand. teeth
Arrows= Max. cusps moving toward the buccal

note :the max. cusp move DoB in nonworking Excursions

So,
1) Max. cusp move towards Buccal Surface of Mand
2) Post. movement so Max. Supporting cusps travel up the mesial occl.
incline of Mand. Holding/Supporting Cuspsimmediatly Buccally or Distally
= tip - tip

B) When you have Max. diagram with Mand. arrows
teeth = Max. teeth
arrows= Mand. Cusps moving Lingually

note: the Mand. cusps move MoL in Non working Excursion

so,
1) Mand. Supporting cusp move towards lingual surf. of the Max. teeth toward the midline

2) also, it moves forward, so , Mand Supporting cusp go up the Distal Occl. Slope of the Max. Supporting cusp which is measial to it.

My sugestion is get the cd-rom of Wheeler's it has the best 3-D showing of this.

There is also woring and non woring Later protrusive and retrusive movements to consider let me know if you want me to explain.

Also some check me to see if I am right and let me know thanks-Bill

hi fixansmiles01
thank you for clearing it for me.
if it is ok i have one more ? it was given in the decks

it asked about the movements and did answer it correctly but the explanation and the remember point made me think twice and confused me

it said that
in the working side movement (right or left) the mesiobuccal cusp of the maxillary 1st molar passes through the lingual groove of the mandibular 1st molar

and the next point was

in the working side movement (right or left) the mesiobuccal cusp of the maxillary 2nd molar passes through the facial groove of the mandibular 2nd molar

my ? is why is it lingual groove is it the point where it starts or is it generally given
for the both statements it is the mesiobuccal cusp which has to pass through the mesiobuccal groove of the 1st man. molar and the facial groove for the man. 2nd molar. where is the lingual groove coming from

hope to find the answer

thank you

every post i had posted here people have been rude to me and even for such a ? also i get a -- ve feed back. i don't understand what the sarcasm is with others

OK LETS SEE

in the working side movement (right or left) the mesiobuccal cusp of the maxillary 1st molar passes through the lingual groove of the mandibular 1st molar THAT IS TRUE

in the working side movement (right or left) the mesiobuccal cusp of the maxillary 2nd molar passes through the facial groove of the mandibular 2nd molar THIS IS FALSE, SIMPLY BECAUSE, IT PASSES THROUGH THE LINGUAL GROOVE OF THE MAND 2 MOLAR AS WELL 👍
