Even after hearing all the scary stories about achiever I still ended up buying it.... just to get depress and demoralize...

I just completed my Achiever 1...and this is how badly I did..

Bio - 16
GC - 16
OC - 15
PAT - 17
QR - 21

i know achiever is tough but how do u guys think I am doing for my exam on 23rd...

I am so depressed....

not sure what you are hoping to get but my scores were around yours and i went 20/20/20 yesterday...if youre hoping to do better its definitely possible just learn from the test rather than just moving on, you have a lot of time to prep still so dont stress too much

The achiever tests are not too bad - they will def give you a score lower than what you will make, but I thought the first test was not too hard. The bio was kinda detailed, but the ochem part was pretty straightforward. I took the second test and I have to say the gchem was def harder than the first...so was the bio part. I ended up with the following scores:

Achiever 1:
Bio:19
gchem:18
Ochem:23

Achiever 2:
Bio: 18
gchem: 14😱
Ochem: 23

My confidence just went down on the second test after seeing the first gchem problem. I kinda just checked out after that and skipped all of gchem - leaving 5 problems blank. I just did all of the destroyer after the test, so I hope my gchem will go up on the next test.

for anyone taking achiever: if you take achiever and do bad in a few sections it may dismantle your confidence at first but if you are smart enough to learn from your mistakes rather than just be depressed about your scores you will do awesome...on achiever test two i got a 13:uhno: in Orgo (16-18s in everything else) and avoided reviewing that test immediately cuz i was upset with how i did. eventually i reviewed it and learned from my mistakes and got a 22🙂 in orgo on the real DAT nine days later, this could happen for you or anyone. use achiever as a learning opportunity and not as a score indicator, the concepts that are tested will force you to review a lot of topics and some will likely show up on your test day.

Thanks for the kind and inspiring words...

Did u just reviewed the exams and understood what you did wrong or went back and reviewed the entire topic that u got wrong...

ya casper i know what you mean. Just took achiever one and got

PA: 18
QR: 21
BIO: 17
GC: 20
OC: 17

Thought the PA was particularly challenging, maybe because the pictures were of poor quality compared to CDP, but in cdp i've been getting 23s or so. Haven't studied bio yet either. My test is on the 7th so hopefully we'll have some time to review it because it seems we have a long ways to go -__-

From what I read on this forum...those are some good scores for achiever...

you guys still hanging in there with achiever? Took my last one (3) today and didn't seem to improve since the first time. A little worried because it was a lot of carelessness which is something you can't necessarily outstudy -_-. 18/18/19. Still have to take the last 2 topscore tests but my test is on the 7th. Again I thought the keyholes on achiever were pretty crazy, and some of the TFE as well.

i say throw out the achiever and pick up the destroyer!

Achiever is a confidence killer and half of the battle is going in with a positive attitude.

so would you guys, who have done achiver, say that doing the achiever practices tests were NOT helpful, in terms of acamedic aspect, at all preparing for the DAT?

I took the achiever, and I think it helped me a lot with the PAT section. I got a 26 on my PAT. The problems on the achiever are so hard that you dont have time to visualize complex shapes, so you have to come up with strategies, i.e. counting lines, folds, cubes, etc to do fairly well. On the Achiever the best PAT I got was a 20 on the first test, and the rest of the tests I was getting 17 to 19. The Achiever is great practice for the PAT if you have time and you can remember to not get discouraged.

I would say that the problems on the achiever are so much harder than the actual DAT for the rest of the sections as well. You have to realize that the Achiever was made to teach you concepts about bio/chem/ochem/math. This is why Achiever is much harder, because the questions are so packed with so much info. I remember I took the O-chem test on the achiever and got a 13 on it three days before my test and I was upset because of all the studying I had done. If you have plenty of time before your test use the Achiever to study, but don't gauge your actual test day performance to it, because it will disourage you tremendously.

Good Luck
