I took DAT on 08-22-2011 in NY.

PAT: 17
QR: 18
RC: 18
Bio: 20
GC: 22
OC: 23
TS: 21
AA: 20

I was disappointed with my score.

Because my goal was to get higher score in the science section to get 22 or higher for AA.

I was so sad that I got 20 on bio section because I spend very huge amount of time to study this section.

But little strange thing is, in 2006~2007, I remember that AA 20 is around 85~87 percentile.

But I was surprised that I got 93.4 percentile for AA and 96.2 percentile for TS.

What is this mean? is percentile more important that the score itself?

I am so worried in these days, because:

1. My GPA is 3.2
2. BPC GPA is 3.1
3. And I am an International Student F-1.

I have a research experience about primate dentition, one year of job shadowing, and one year of volunteering in the dental clinic.

Do I still have chance to get into mid-level private dental school?

Also, is this true that International students are very hard to get in to the most of dental schools (including private)?

I applied 28 schools and my top choice schools are:

NYU,BU,Temple,Tuft,USC,UNLV, and U Penn.

Please, give me some advice !

only thing that i can say is i think you wasted a lot of money on school's that you applied to that probably wont take you, such as U Penn and etc.. Your stats are great, maybe the GPA is below average, but with 28 schools LOL , i think you're fine.

your dat scores are very impressive and will give you a reasonable chance. your international status is going to make things more difficult. nyu and boston are the schools that i would be expecting to hear from ahead of others because they admit a relatively large percentage of international students. i do agree with the previous post that you wasted a lot of money in applications when a little research on predents.com or predds.net would have weeded out schools that do not admit a large number of international students or students with gpa or sgpa that low. i understand why everyone suggests to apply broadly as it really cannot hurt, but it is also important to be realistic
