I just wanted to say, you guys scared the **** out of me before going into this test. Everyone talks about all these different supplements that are essential.
All I did was the Kaplan classroom course.. which sucked --definitely not enough actual classroom time and the instructor only covered (read:glazed over) half the necessary material, but it provided a good time-line for studying and motivated me to keep me on top of reading the chapters. Also, the workshops/subjects tests/practice tests were worth the money to me.
Kaplan was the only resource I used. That being said, I read the blue book about 4 times cover to cover during my study period of 3 months, did every one of the bio.chem.ochem workshops, and did all subject tests. 2 weeks prior to today I started alternating the 5 kaplan practice tests every other day.
My scores were
QR 18
RC 23
BIO 24
GC 23
OC 25
TS 24
AA 24
PA 24
kaplan math did NOT prepare me well. A bunch of logarithm conversions were on the real test that I had no idea how to do. My real RC and QR scores underperformed compared to my practice tests, and I spent the least time studying RC and math because I felt they were my strongest (ironic).
Kaplan chem was so much harder than the real thing. I pretty much failed orgo at school so I totally re-learned orgo from the basics with kaplan. Kaplan hole punching is definitely easier than the real thing. Kaplan bio was really in-depth and I basically memorized each chapter word for word. On the real test however, I did need to rely on some memory of my genetics class last semester. And I will say that perhaps another bio source would be better.. I felt kaplan's bio focused too heavily on the wrong subject areas. Regardless, I feel pleased with my scores and with how prepared I was.
Thats all, just wanted to share my experience. Science is my weak point and if I can do it, others can too.. even without a million different study guides. = )
