Hi all!

So I just recently took the DAT again, for the second time! And I did not do much better...
1st time:
PA:20
QR:15
B: 17
GC:17
OC:17
TS:17
AA:17

2nd time:
PA:22
QR:14
RC:19
B:17
GC:18
OC:19
TS:18
AA:17

My overall average GPA is a 3.42 and my sGPA is a 3.4 as well (but I have over a 3.5 average for both after my freshman year). I am just need some advice if I should continue pressuring dental score or if it is just out of reach? I just know, each year it gets more and more competitive and I wanted to know if I would even be considered a competitive application? Please if you can give me some feedback (positive or negative) would just kind of help me figure out if I should continuing applying and see what happens or if I should just expect that I probably won't get in...Thanks!

I wouldn't say your chances are zero. Many people get in with your stats and my advice to you is to apply to as many schools as you can and if you do NOT get in this cycle, retake the DAT and apply again.

Wow, we have similar stats.. Stay positive and apply early next semester!! If you have a chance then I do too.. 🙂 That QR killed us, but i heard for most schools are not much important... Good luck and make sure your PS is a master piece plus get lots shadowing/extracurricular activities too.. I don't recommend you to retake unless you apply next cycle and get rejections.. Lets pray together :xf:

There are people who get in with your scores, however that does not mean everyone. Even people with higher scores don't get in. It all comes down to EC's and all the other stuff in an application. Apply, see where you stand. If you get an interview somewhere that means that you are at least considered/competitive for that school. If you don't get interviews, you will have to re-evaluate what you need to do to improve. You actually have a pretty good GPA. GPA in the range of people who get in and above the average of some schools for their incoming class.

How long did you study for the DAT? What did you do different compared to the first time you took the DAT. If you didn't change your method of studying and you didn't get additional studying material. Perhaps that's where you went wrong. These are areas in which I believe we need to know from you.

Do you feel that you can improve? I took the DAT twice, 19aa/19ts/24pat the first time. I knew I could improve if I put more time and effort into my studying as well as changing the way I studied. I felt my second test was significantly more difficult than the first test and I did a lot better. If you feel confident that you can make improvements then I say yes re-take. If you however, feel like you can't do any better, I would recommend that you do not re-take.

Best of luck and I hope you make the decision that is best for you.
