So U of Detroit sent me a letter awhile ago, requesting I retake the DAT again because they like 17 or higher in every section and I got a 16 in QR. I planned on retaking the DAT over my winter break and studying for the 3 weeks, to fulfill their request and help my app in general. I have only interviewed at indiana,( i was rejected, although they said they'd look at my app again in Feb.) rejected at UNLV, and Case but otherwise I haven't heard any news from other schools. I sent all the schools emails november 1st, saying I would be retaking the DAT in january. Well my break didn't go as planned( due to some personal stuff, stress, etc.) I've studied, but DEFINITELY not as much as I have my previous 2 times. I'm scheduled to take the exam in 4 days since my break from school has just ended. Today I thought I made a decision to not take it and just wait and see what happens with the scores I have. I figure I can retake it in June when I"m out and REALLY get my act together now that i've ruined it once. I've always had the idea of possibly staying another year and getting another degree which would be very easy in my situation. I feel guilty for deciding to not take it when I have 4 days left to study. In those 4 days I'm going to be moving back to school and starting a new semester. At first I figured I just wouldn't go to the first week of class and study until friday when i take the exam. I don't feel that 4 days is sufficient or really going to be productive, although maybe it could be? I guess I"d just like some advice/reassurance that I'm making the right decision. My latest DAT scores(2nd time) are:
AA 18
GC 18
ORGO 19
BIO 18
PAT 19
RC 18
QR 16

math has always sucked for me. I'm just feeling guilty/unsure of what to do! any advice for those that have taken it 3 times? This will be my last... are my scores expected to go way up? do they need to? thank you for any responses!!! i really appreciate it!

ok here what i think.
i honestly think that ur scores from the second time are probably dead on average. this year i think the average is going a bit higher, and i think it'll continue to go up. but u should at least get a few more interviews. about detroit, they are full of **** and i think they are deff. too full of themselves. for some reason they have been telling ppl that they need at least 17 in every section. they were saying the same thing last year and i know at least four ppl that are in this year;s class that had less than 17 in at least one sections. regarding ur decision not to write in the break, i think personally agree with it. a good friend of mine is in a very similar situation and i advised her the same. just because u guys u have already written twice and if u rush to write the third time and don't get the scores that u need then it would be much worse than waiting an extra year and applying as an applicant with double major, or a masters, with better dat scores (assuming that you take ur time, study hard, and do well as i'm sure u will...) and a better gpa. so thats my two cents for u...good luck ... and c what everyone else here has to say...

UDM saying they want at least 17's in each section doesnt mean they are full of ****...i'd be willing to be that is what every school wants, but most dont flat out say it. They just want you to be as competitive as possible...that is all. You dont need to have at least 17's...i got a 16 in my QR and got accepted, and it didnt even come up in the interview.
