GC: Damn, Chad's videos are amazing. I realized two weeks before my test that I wasn't as prepared as I wanted to be so I got his videos and devoted all my time to watching them. I took detailed notes and then kept reviewing them. I worked all his quizzes and reworked them again. I thought they were really good practice. I didn't get through much of the Destroyer because I felt like it was too specific and I would get lost in the problem instead of seeing what the general concept was. Reading Kaplan was an epic waste of time in my opinion.
OC: To be completely honest I was shocked that I did so well. I really didn't study much for this section. I watched some of chad's videos and read through some of the reactions in Kaplan. However, I think the reason I did so well on this section was just based on my o-chem classes from college. I did well in both the organics and I think it just stuck with me. Also, I felt pressed for time in this section and so I was just looking at the question and going with my first instinct. Apparently it worked. Didn't have any IR or NMR or lab techniques almost all of it was reactions and acidity/basicity. Didn't do much destroyer for this either but I think that the questions I did do in destroyer were really helpful.
BIO: Studied Cliff's and Kaplan for this section. However, I used most of my knowledge from undergrad bio classes since I'm a bio major for this section. Not too many odd ball questions but I did have 1 from Ch. 19-22. Take a quick look at those.
PAT: CDP all the wayyy. I sucked at this section when I first started. You will get better though just keep after it. My angles were ridiculous so I did my best but man they were rough. I would learn how to really visualize tfe because line counting didn't help me as much as it did in CDP. Hole punches/cube counting were sooo much easier than CDP. Pattern folding was ehhh i guess just practice, practice.
RC: Search and Destroy all the way. I can read (more like skim) pretty fast so I didn't have too much trouble here. Came close with time though so just practice. I thought it was a tad easier than RC in kaplan blue book fyi.
QR: WTF this was hard. I got an A in calculus and I'm pretty decent at math but there's just not enough time. Do math destroyer but don't just do it be reallyyyy good at it and do the tests over again. I only did like three tests and i WISHHH i would have done more but I was focused on studying for the other stuff. I should have gone through all the questions and done all the easy ones first but I got tripped on trying to solve all of them. Totally ran out of time and had to guess on a bunch. It's also really rough after doing all the other sections. PRACTICE PRACTICE and don't underestimate this.
I super happy about my scores but I'm really bummed about QR. I feel like a QR-14 is really low and most schools have a rule for no scores lower than 17. What do you guys think? Do I have to retake? Also, let me know if you guys have any questions and I'll do my best to answer! Thanks, and good luck to everyone!
fyi I've got a 3.9 and i live in Louisiana and was planning to apply to LSU
