I always thought reading these were interesting and usually helpful so here's my breakdown, even though I'm a little disappointed in my scores.

PAT: 19
QR: 18
RC: 18
BIO: 19
GCHEM: 22
OCHEM: 27

Bio: random as hell like everyone says. There were some stuff that I should have known, but forgot. I used Cliffs for this and ran through Destroyer once. Cliffs is pretty good. If I had actually studied the human development chapters more, I would have done better. There wasn't too much focus on phylums, which surprised me. I'm also a biochem major so I thought I could wing this section. Oh boy was I wrong.

Chem: Pretty straight forward. I used Destroyer and Kaplan BB for this, although I don't think Kaplan helped as much as Destroyer. A couple of calculations but they all "worked."

Ochem: Probably the easiest thing ever. I used Destroyer, my textbook, and anything I could get my hands on. Destroyer is very good for this section. If you did well in your ochem classes, this section should be cake. Someone posted http://www.teststudyguide.com/DAT/dat-sections.aspx in some thread I was reading. I looked through it and saw there was no C13 NMR so I didn't study for it. Guess what the first problem of the ochem section was? 😱

Side note: I finished the science section in 1 hour.

PAT: Wow. I ran out of time. I didn't think it was too terribly difficult but I had like 8 minutes for the last section. My pacing for the test was terrible. Also, I was getting really nervous towards the end and forgot if the patterns folded into or out of the screen. 🙁 There were maybe 3-4 WTF questions. I used CDP for this section, which I highly recommend.

Reading: Umm I never practiced the reading, so I wasn't sure of the format coming into the test. I don't think it was too bad. Once again, pacing was an issue and I ran out of time.

Math: Not too bad I guess. I heard a lot of dental schools don't care about this section. I still ran out of time, and literally clicked B/C for the last 10 problems.

My recommendations/ tips for future test takers:
1) Learn to pace yourself. This killed me.
2) Make sure you click correctly. My computer was acting weird or something and sometimes it would click and sometimes it would deselect the answer I picked. I didn't have enough time to go back to see if all the questions were answered.
3) Destroyer is enough for chem/ochem sections.
4) I think if you learn all of Cliff's AP, you'll be ok for bio.

CLASSIC...hahah
anyway...i did kapla twice for bio and cliff once
do you think that should be enough...also was there balancing redox reactions

you're disappointed with those scores... you are rubbing salt in the wounds of lots of people who really underperformed for their standards.

Clicking any part of the answer (wording or circle) = choosing that answer. Not sure if that was your problem? Also you had to click next to go to the next question..... so you should have clearly saw what you choose as your final answer.

Anyway nice job.

sorry but i really feel like i should have done better in bio and pat. PAT i'm really disappointed in. the other scores i can live with i guess.

i have a nasty habit of double clicking. and when you do that, it deselects the answer i think. i think this issue only affects me though, but i'm just putting it out there.

i didn't really read through the bio section of kaplan. but i'd go through cliff a couple of times, and make sure you do those test questions at the end of each chapter because they really help.
there was redox. easy of course. 🙂

now that i think about it, i'm not sure how much help kaplan bb is. i guess it's just something to have as an overview, but i don't think it was that useful.

oh and cliff's says that cowper's (bulbourethral) gland has an unknown function. it actually creates "precum," which neutralizes any remaining urine in the urethra cause that stuff hurts the sperm. just a heads up. 👍

actually, i think the purpose of the bulbourethral secretions are mainly to protect the sperm from the acidic environment of the vagina...that's what my a&p book says, at least...i just wiki'd it and it said it was for the acid in the urethra....the pH of normal urine is usually about 6, whereas the vagina is 4-5 (had to google that...lol), which is 10-100 times more acidic.

thx for the info🙂

the alkaline fluid from the prostate has more of a role in protecting the sperm from the acid from the vagina. the cowper's precum fluid is just in a little amount and is to make sure no urine is left.

heyy question.. wat do u mean by human development chapters.. based on your post. i feel like i should study that in detail. thanks. =)

no nernst equation but it doesn't hurt to memorize it.

by human development, i'm actually talking about all the chapters that deal with animals. i only say this because i'm very weak in that area.

You had great scores! Dont worry about the PAT, your other sections are above average and your PAT is average! Still really solid scores! Go out and celebrate! Maybe a beer, or 2, or 10!

thanks, but i'm thinking about a retake in september, but that's only if i can muster the strength to study again.

I really think that would be a mistake, unless you're shooting for a school that accepts really high DAT scores like columbia or Harvard or your gpa is pretty low.

i'd be really happy to get into any dental school, but i really want either ucsf, uop, or ucla, in that order.
