I wasn't going to post a breakdown unless I got a 20+. Glad I get to post a breakdown! My scores obviously are not crazy like some other 99.9 percentilers, but with 4 weeks preparation I am very proud of myself. Took the DAT today for my second time and this is how it went compared to last time.
Before: Today:
PAT - 20 PAT - 19 (69.4%)
QR - 14 QR - 18 (86.6%)
RC - 16 RC - 17 (35.7%)
Bio - 16 Bio- 20 (91.8%) 👍
Gchem- 21 Gchem- 19 (79.9%)
O-chem-23 Ochem - 24 (97.9%)
TS-19 TS - 21 (96.2%) 👍
AA-18 AA - 20 (93.4%)
WARNING: For people who are taking the DAT soon. I was not able to write during my tutorial section to set up grids, cube tally, gen chem equations etc. I wish I would have prepared for this better as it kind of messed with my rhythm.
Resources: Cliffs AP, destroyer, CHADS VIDEOS, DATqvault (all sections), CDP, class notes, Math destroyer, and Jose Cuervo Tequila.
PAT (19): I don't have much to say about this sections other than my average on CDP was 21. The new rule in the prometric center really threw me off and killed a few minutes of time. lol Honestly, I just got really drained when I got to the cube counting portion and started to get lazy. It was a little bit harder than CDP, pretty similar to 2009 ADA sample test as I got a 19 on that the night before the test.
QR(18): I watched all of chads videos to brush up on the basics. I am actually very happy about this as you can see it was my weakest section from the first take. I went through math destroyer once thoroughly w/out being timed, retook 3 of them timed, and took about 5 Qvault math tests. I also did qvault math where you can isolate a specific set of problems. I did this for about 7 sections to get extra practice. I youtube'd videos on problems I was struggling on.
RC(17): I was really disappointed with myself testing strategy wise. I tried search and destroy, but it just doesn't work for me. So this time around I decided to just read the passage, which worked great in practice tests! I took 3 qvault tests and averaged 21 out of those. The actual test was about 70% tone questions it felt like, but that wasn't the problem for me. It was the fact I left myself 17 minutes for the worst passage I have ever read about CNS agonistic receptor binding. I could not understand what I was reading with such a short frame time and had to put C for the last 5!
BIO(20): This sections was just as hard as I remember it being the first time I took it. I averaged a 19.5 estimated score on DATqvault (best resource in my opinion). I read 4 chapters of cliffs AP bio on my weak points determined by datqvault. Watched Chads bio videos and took all of his quizzes. Also went through all of destroyer and made flash cards as well as looked at my old class notes. It helps that I have taken a TON of upper division bio classes this time around (Ecology, genetics, embryology, Oncology, virology, higher plants, 3 upper division anatomy classes etc.). Also I had a 6 month long anatomy internship which helped.
Side note: Qvault bio is great at preparing you mentally for the WTF questions, as I had about 7 of them today lol. One of them was the very first question!! Had NO CLUE what the question was asking. Leave it to the test writers to take a concept you have mastered, and ask a question in the most confusing way possible!
G-chem (19): CHADS, destroyer, Qvault. I am very upset with this section as I had hopes for at least a 22. My datqvault chem scores averaged at 21.2. This sections was 10 fold harder than last time. I didn't even know what the question was asking for 3 of them. I went through destroyer once and then redid the ones I got wrong.
O-chem (24)- CHADS, destroyer, Qvault. This was my strongest section. I averaged 25.7 on datqvault. This section was also harder than last time. I had three problems involving 3 step synthesis problems where you had to predict the product, which was similar to destroyer type. Also had to know some mechanism that I wasn't 100% sure I had seen before. I studied for this section just like the Gchem portion.
Any suggestions for schools to apply to besides just california and arizona schools??? I would like to apply to 15 schools but only have 9 listed from the CA and AZ so far.

I enjoyed everyones breakdowns and used it as motivation to keep me going when I wasn't feeling completely motivated. I also picked up a couple of strategies other breakdowns such as Vlaura, who got a 30 on QR and said to use the answers to solve some of the questions. I was able to do that on a couple of mine today which helped! A10 and others have helped with strategies for QR as well such as "mark and move on". I wish everyone best of luck! If you have any questions feel free to ask 🙂
