**DAT 8/17** retake?

OK so I am new to this but I need some advice on my DAT scores that I just received. I did really well on most parts except for QR (i hate math..especially without a calculator!!!) and i didnt do very well on perceptual either. I am hoping that the fact that I have a 3.93 GPA will cause them to not look at the two bad scores as much? I really don't want to retake it since I know it will put me very far back into the application cycle but from what I've read on here these two scores may hurt me a lot.

my scores:

RC: 20
Bio: 22
GChem: 21
Orgo: 24
Total Sci: 22
QR: 15 🙁
AA: 20
PAT: 17

I kind of freaked out and got really distracted by someone typing really loudly next to me during the PAT 🙁 . I've heard that a low QR isnt thaaat big of a deal compared to other scores, but I am really worried about the PAT. I really don't want to retake just because of this!!

I am applying to BU, Tufts, Columbia, NYU, SUNY Buffalo, Temple, UPenn, Umaryland, UConn ..but I'm really hoping for UConn, Tufts, or BU.

i think you're okay. i wouldn't retake if i were you.

if you're set on an IVY, maybe retake. If not, I wouldn't

I don't think you need to retake.

Thank you for that link! I have been trying to find something like that for a while. That helps a lot! And no I'm not set on an Ivy, although I hear UConn can be as hard as one to get into.. and that is my number one choice so I may need to give up on that... but oh well. Thanks for all of your input!

I got the same QR score as you.....AND I LOVE MATH!! haha i just work slow on word problems.......the only thing that is hard on the test was the understanding the question part for me.......i can solve fast and everything but understanding and drawing out the problem is the hard part....and I got a 16 on the pat also.....the practice test that i used werent so realistic...

yes, i was a little screwed up by the prep material i used for PAT too. I used barron's and achiever since everyone seemed to think they were good, though not as expensive as Crack DAT PAT which I couldn't afford. The Barron's book told me that for hole punching there would always only be one hole punched..and that was definitely not true! As soon as I saw multiple holes I freaked and I think I definitely bombed that section. I kept reading that Barron's was really similar to the real thing but I felt that the real thing was much harder. I also kept reading that achiever was harder than the real thing so I guess I didn't focus on that too much but maybe I should have 🙁
