Is the hole punch section on the DAT Achiever comparable to the actual DAT? Out of 15 problems, like 10 have multiple holes punched! Did the actual DAT have many multiple holes problems? Thanks

Yes and No. There were plenty of problems on the real PAT that had 2 holes. But all of the folds made sense, there were none of the weird folds like fiths, that i saw in some practices. It was just as easy as i was ready for hence the 22.

Mep, what preparation material did you use? The DAT Achiever has plenty of problems with 3 holes! I appreciate your reply!

Hole Punch is supposed to be a giveaway section in the reat DAT, provided you have been prepared to see some of the more challenging ones. Out of the 15 questions given, you are going to see many 2 hole punch and at least one on 3 hole punch. Plus, one or two more questions will incorporate 1/8 or 3/8 fold instead of the usual 1/4 or 1/2 you guys have been familiar with.

I've just checked my version of DAT Achiever and found around eight one hold punch on each of Test 1 and Test 2. I see only two 3 hole punch in each of the test (would have been greater practice tests if more multiple hole punch had been found there). Not sure if BigJ77 has been a bit exaggerated on his first and second posts. Also, it would not be possible to have 1/5 fold in the practice tests as described by mepstein in view of its asymmetrical setting for any viable punch. Pay close attention to the soultions provided and note for each of the symmetrical line (vertical/horizontal/diagonal) involved as the patterns are being unfolded one after another.

For one thing I do agree with you both is that most questions in DAT Achiever including those from the PAT are going to be more difficult than the actual ones. I believe the test author must have forseen how doing this is going to prepare the candidates for the worst.

The focus of the PAT should be based on the much tougher sections related to 3D perception like Aperture, Orthographic Projection, and Form Development while not neglecting a solid foundation needed to ace rest of the easier ones. Check on my other post on how to best utilize 3D animated features from DAT Achiever. I've almost seen all practice tests available in the market and none has surpassed this added tool to eventually help you score outstandingly for the PAT. Hope this info shared helps. 🙂

Gigit,

Thanks! Yeah, I was a little shocked with the level of difficult of DAT Achiever PAT and did exaggerate! Again, I am actually happy that it is that difficult! I would rather see that level of difficulty now vs. being shocked on the actual DAT. I do appreciate your input. I really need work on those complex ones.
