The fertilization membrane prevents polyspermy, not multiple births.

The question is "Which of these membranes acts as a fast block to multiple fertilizations?"

The correct answer is none of the above, the fertilization membrane acts as a slow block to multiple fert., whereas a depolarization of the egg's membrane provides the fast block

its says in the MCAT kaplan book that i have that the fertilzation membrane prevents multiple fertilzations....?

the question on achiever says, "Which of the following structures serves as fast block to multiple fertilzations at an animal egg cell?

a. jelly coat
b. corona radiata
c. zona pellicuda.
d. fertilization membrane.
e. none of these

the answer is none of these and that it is the acrosomal process.
