***UPDATE Topscore test 1 (5-30-13):**

I just took my Topscore #1 test for Natural Sciences, and well let's just say I am not too thrilled...

Topscore #1 Natural Sciences

Bio: 17
Chemistry: 21
O Chem: 19

TS: 19

Going through the test, I thought it was pretty simple. It was pretty much straight-forward (I'm assuming as straightforward as the DAT?)

Bio: I've only studied for 5 days so I'm more than accepting of the score. The stuff I saw (even in Achiever) was material I've already seen from studying the past 5 days. Once I read through Cliff's again and do all Bio material in DATQVault, I should be ready to destroy the other practice tests (hopefully).

Gen Chem: I only missed 3 questions and it bumped me down a good bit. Though, there were questions where I would get stuck because I wouldn't know how to start it. It's frustrating bc I'm wasting time.

O Chem: Definitely my biggest disappointment. O chem is my strongest subject in the Natural Sciences portion, and going through this section I felt it was too simple to slip up on. I ended up missing 7 questions and it feels like a gut shot.

Overall, I'm not pleased with a 19 TS at all. Through the hard word I've been pumping into studying Gen chem and Ochem, it sure as hell doesn't feel rewarding.

I was due to take my DAT on June 4th. However, I rescheduled allowing myself another week to study/review. There's just no way I'll go into my DAT with these scores :/

Anyways, that's just the mini-rundown. I feel like the 7:30 am to 8 pm days for the past 4 weeks have been inefficient.

The consensus here is that Topscore is representative of the actual DAT. If anyone with experience can clarifiy, I just want to know:
1. specifically how the Gen Chem section on the DAT is like compared to Topscore?

2. Anyone want to comment on my scores and how were your scores when you first took your practice tests for Topscore?

Thanks!

***UPDATE Achiever 2nd Test (5-29-13):**

I guess I'll turn this into a mini-log for those curious about DAT Achiever.

Bio: 16
Gen Chem: 15
Ochem: 18

TS: 17
PAT: 18

PAT: Well I'm happy I did a little better on PAT than the 1st time. Seriously though, the keyholes on Achiever are RIDICULOUS. I spent the most time on just that 1 section. When I got to pattern folding, I was left with under 7 minutes.

Bio: Looking at my mistakes I saw 3-4 questions that I made dumb mistakes on. However, majority of the missed questions were strictly from Ecology and I haven't touched that section in Cliff's or QVault yet so I guess it perfectly reflects it. I've only read Cliff's up to Ecology since 4 days ago, but I've been taking notes between the margins and really absorbing the material.

Gen Chem: I'm pretty pissed at my score. I've gone through Chad's, Gen Chem Destroyer 3 times (even redid my mistakes a separate time) and yet I dropped by 2 points compared to the 1st test. How does the Achiever Gen Chem section compare to the actual DAT? 15 has me clenching my fists.

Ochem: Missed 8, but 2-3 were silly mistakes. No biggie.

Can anyone chime in on my scores this 2nd time around? More specifically, any comments on my 17 TS and the drop in my Gen Chem score? I'm peppering my angus as we speak.

5-25-13 So I just took my first Achiever test for TS. Let's just say I'm a little discouraged and I really need input on those who took the Achiever tests and what they actually got on their DAT.

Biology: 14 (I haven't really study Bio yet so I went into this section cold turkey. No worries)
Gen Chem: 17
Ochem: 19

TS: 17

These scores are already scaled. I'm getting nervous due to these scores as my DAT date approaches. Any input would be GREATLY appreciated.

I need a hug

i would be interested in this answer as well, im debating between purchasing DAT achiever and topscore

Achiever scores are typically well below what you will get on your DAT. For some Achiever tests, I scored 10 points below what I actually got on the real thing (I think it was in Gchem). I posted my Achiever scores in my breakdown if you want to see how my practice tests compared to my real scores. Though it goes without saying, make sure you study biology and keep up on your G/Ochem. Good luck!

Thanks J777! I will definitely check them out 👍

Anybody else want to chime in? Thoughts and/or opinions?

I have a statbook in my DAT breakdown that details all of the scores I got on the first 3 Achiever tests. I believe my science scores were around 18 and I had a 22 TS. Check the breakdown if you want exacts. They're overly difficult, but way worth it in my opinion.

Definitely will. Thanks for chiming in!

That feel when you over prepare, stressed beyond your limits, then take a test and absolute destroy it. I hope that's how this is turning out to be

I remember getting 17s for my TS as well, and 17 and 18 for PAT. Yes, keyholes are very hard on achiever compared to CDP. I also got 14s on bio on first two tests, and it was also because I went in without studying bio - that was my wake up call. But I ended up with a 24 TS, and I think I can say that achiever is much harder than actually exam. But it is great prep for the worst case scenario and it toughens you up and gets you entirely ready for testing conditions. If you can make it through Achiever tests like a full-on test simulation, you are ready for the real thing

FWIW I was around a 18 AA/TS for Achiever, and 22 on the real deal.

Thanks guys for sharing your experiences.

I'm starting to feel a little better (albeit not complacent). I'll give another shot at the 2nd test sometime tomorrow (this time I'll have covered majority of bio, hopefully by the end of today) and will post my TS/PA scores. I'm hoping to be in the same shoes as you guys and dominate the DAT.

Anymore input? I know there are randoms out there who might've scrolled by this thread and thought, "glad I'm not the only one!" Come share your experiences! 👍

Keep me updated on your progress. I just started Achiever today.... I got 18 bio/19 gen chem/16 ochem...........just started guessing on ochem because i was soooooooo tired of being raped by achiever...... :|

my test is next week....but i've read several breakdowns of people who score really well only scored around 17-18's on achiever... so lets not give up hope yet! 😀

I decided to use this thread as a mini log for all those interested, so welcome aboard!

Looks like we are inversely scoring around the same. Good job on the Gen Chem score! For some reason, when I go through that section i freeze at some very simple questions and start to wonder how to actually start the question. But when I do start it, it's cake. It's just the starting part that gets me irked.

Definitely doesn't sound like you're 'assuming the position' for Achiever. I think you're honestly in great shape 👍 I've heard as long as our TS is 17+, we are in good shape. But I'm definitely not going to relax just bc of that.

My test is June 4th so I'm right there with ya. I'm holding off on my 3rd/last Achiever test and starting my 1st Topscore test tomorrow. If I'm not satisfied, I'm gonna have to reschedule.

Thanks for dropping in! Anyone wanna chime in?

You will score a lot better on TopScore! It's a lot easier 🙂 My test date is June 6th...I just rescheduled so I could take it in the afternoon haha.

I tried to do the PAT part because everyone recommends to practice keyholes with achiever but I wanted to gauge my eyes out. Im just going to pray the real PAT isn't that hard =|

Try not to worry too much about your Achiever scores.. The program will really make you second guess your knowledge.. Your scores are well within the range of a future DAT success story. For gchem, I got a 14 on test 3 and a 13 on test 5.. Real score jumped 10 points. IMO, Achiever gchem questions are too time consuming given the amount of time. The math based chem Q's on the real test are FAR (emphasis on the far) easier and less time intensive than Achiever. Achiever really is a mental game more than anything. Just stay strong and learn from these tests. Try your best not to fall into a head funk because of a few meaningless numbers 🙂

Thanks for the encouraging words! I took the 1st test for Topscore and well I did a little better but it wasn't amazing :/. I actually just rescheduled too. I pushed it back 1 week, that way there is NO excuse for me not to be fully prepared. Keep working on the PAT section! It actually gets easier and i'm starting to average 20's on CDP. Even when I got a 18 on the Achiever version, it's just due to the Keyholes (bc those suckers are ridiculous!). Pretty sure you'll kill your actual DAT 👍

You hit the nail on the head with what you just said bc that's how I basically felt. Also, I did realize I wasted a LOT of time on the Gen chem section in Achiever bc setting up the calculations is too time confusming. However, when I just took my Topscore tests, I was stuck on 3 or 4 questions bc I didn't know how to start it (a little similar to how I felt when I took Achiever). I'm practicing and studying like a mad man, but for some reason my scores aren't evident of it.

Anyways, I just updated the OP! I took my 1st Topscore test for the natural science section and a very small breakdown. If anyone can comment, it'd be much appreciated!

Your TS1 looks solid. How much time are you taking to review these practice tests afterwards?

As for practice scores, my Achiever TS scores were pretty similar to my Top Score TS. If you're curious I can PM them to you.

Test #4 TS 17/Bio 14/GC 17/OC 19

I was planning on taking Dat in a week to 10 days..do I have enough time to improve on bio?

Pretty positive you will get more responses if you make your ow thread. Just saying lol

Lol thanks, I dont like cluttering it up. I try to always first do a search to see if theres an appropriate thread already existing.
