would it be too late if i take my dat end of july and submit my application first few days when it's open?

also, my grades don't come out until end of may and i live 5 hours away from my school, so i'll be going home for summer and studying for dat there. how did you guys send out the transcripts? don't you have to print out a transcript matching form from aadas? and i hear you can't do that until the cycle opens and you create an account. so what are my options? i reallly dont want to drive to school 5 hours just to hand them my transcript matching form and drive back after staying for approx 30 mins..! any suggestions?

Your school probably has a different way of sending out transcripts like online or through phone. Almost every school does, don't they?

I don't know what to tell you about the last question, I handed it to them in person because I was close and I am slightly OCD (haha). As for the first question: honestly, it is a LITTLE late. I ended up doing this same thing, I took the DAT's on July 31st, and in hindsight I wish I had them in earlier. I feel as though that is one of the reasons that I didn't have a large amount of success (granted that is not the only reason). With that being said, I did get accepted and even had a couple of interviews pre-Dec 1st. But I didn't get accepted until last week, so take this for what you will. I feel as though if your app is strong you will be fine, I would advise giving this upcoming cycle a go with the understanding that you MIGHT have to re-apply.

Best of luck to you!

If you don't mind, What were your stats? Or just a rough estimate, no need to be precise.

Roughly, from memory, I have a GPA around 3.6 and a science GPA around 3.6. I had a ton of time in a dental clinic, b/c my father is a dentist so it was easy to get time in his office and other offices of people he knew, and around 80 or so hours of volunteer. DAT was not so hot, 18AA/19TS/19PAT and I had a 14 on QR (which really hurt the AA [along with the 17 in RC]).

Hordel. Where did you get in? we have almost the same DAT score

Thank you for sharing, it helps me out a lot. If you took them earlier, wouldn't you have done worse? Did you study a lot in the time that you could have taken them?

I sort of have to go out of country for roughly 3 weeks or so, i come back may 30th. then i'm starting on my application - i have my PS done, mostly all LOR's are done. I was thinking bout spending june and july to study for the dat hardcore. my gpa isn't all that great so i need to kill that dat no matter what. that's why i was hoping to take it end of july. I hear it takes aadsa at least 4-7 weeks to send out application to schools and one should be fine if they end of taking the dat a month or 2 after they submit their app, so the scores usually arrive around the same time to the schools - may be a week of diff. i'm super confused! haha - so HELP!

Sorry I didn't respond earlier, I have been just occupied with moving and HPSP and the list goes on. Anyways, to answer your question, I got into Nova in Fl.

Sorry once again for the delay. I would say that I would have done as well in some parts, mainly QR, and less on other parts. I would advise studying a ton. I studied for about two months for an average of 5-8hrs per day, with some weekends off. So to sum up, I DID NOT slack off! I just didn't sleep at all the night before, I was late (during the break in the test), and I slowly found myself losing concentration as I went on. I think I could have done a bit better, but it was good enough to get one acceptance which is all I was going for.

I would say yes and no. AADSAS does take awhile to send out the app, but 4-7 weeks, I don't know. I think how long it takes them really depends on when you submit your app. If you are first, then you should be good, but if not you could find yourself in a log jam and it might take a little longer. I took the DAT in July and had everything done by AUG and still had success, but I would advise being as early (for everything) as possible. Also, the offical DAT scores (which is what most schools require) usually don't get to the school until a month or so after you take it, so keep this in mind as well.

Ok, I have read so many posts on this topic, but there is still one part I am confused about. I am planning on submitting my application on June 1st. I understand that if I take the DAT 2-4 weeks after I have submitted my application, the schools should receive my application from AADSAS and my official DAT scores at approximately the same time. Is this correct?

What happens if they receive my application before my DAT scores? Will they just put my application on hold? If it does get "put on hold", are my chances of getting an interview lower? Is there any way they could completely disregard my application because they didn't receive the scores at the same time?

I guess my ultimate question is: is it better to send my application in as early as possible and take the chance of having my DAT scores get to the school's admissions office after the application OR have them both get there at the same time by submitting my application 2-4 weeks later?

Thank you so much! :-D

I plan on submitting June 1, and I won't be taking the DAT until July 1. I feel like it is probably better to just submit your app as early as possible even if your delayed DAT scores technically make your application "incomplete"...there are so many aspects of the application for dschools to review (it takes a lot of time to go through thousands of LORs, personal statements, transcripts, etc), that they will probably take a look at your application regardless of whether your DAT scores are available yet (I may be mistaken about this, but it makes logical sense to me). They obviously won't be making any decisions about interviewing before receiving your DAT scores, but at least get ahead of the crowd by having your app in that first mail out.
