I just took the DAT and had scores of AA: 17 OC:14 gc: 20 bio: 15 rc:20 qr:16 pa:17

I know these scores are low due to not finishing all of orgo and not studying the physiology area of biology enough. I am wondering if I should even apply this cycle as I will not be able to retake the dat until October.

I am a minority, female, have over 1700 hours of dental assisting experience, volunteer at a hospital dental clinic, as well as being involved in the honor society (executive board) at school . I am also a member of a lot of other clubs as well.

Is it worth it to apply or should I wait until my DAT is higher.

If you already have everything set for your application, you can still apply after your retake. It might be late, but if you do well on the DAT you probably still have a shot at getting in. Some schools might temporarily accept a fax of an unofficial score report, too. And by October, your GPA would probably be verified pretty quickly. You could still land post-december interviews!

I agree with @hellofuturedentists . Spend this week getting your application prepped, and send out requests for transcripts, LOE's, and write your personal statement. Spend the rest of this month with meaningful reflection on points of improvement for your retake. All is not lost for this year! you took your DAT fairly early in the summer which is working to your advantage, and now you kind of know what to look out for. You still have broke 20 in TWO sections! So you definitely have it in you!

Also, are you in Oakland, CA? Where do you assist?
