Hey everyone,

I last took the DAT in 2006 and remembered prometric listing the appointment duration as 4:30. I just registered to take the exam in July and it says that the appointment duration is 5:30.

I've tried looking online to find what the extra hour is for but haven't had any luck. Has there been some change in the format of the exam that I'm unaware of or what's going on here?

Any help would be really appreciated.

Mine said 5:30 as well and that's roughly how long it took (I got out a bit early, because I only used 5 mins of my break).
As for the reason for this change, I must say I have no idea why they're giving you an extra hour. What I do know, however, is that you should be thankful for every extra second they give you on this test😉

Agreed for the extra time, but was the exam that you took longer too? Or is it still 40 bio, 30 gen chem, 30 orgo. And the rest of the sections are the same too?

Can anyone else verify this? I don't see why they would just go and give you an extra hour for no reason.

Same # of questions...

yeah i took the DAT last year and i felt my time duration was not 5:30. There is something weird going on. Maybe now they have actually begun to include the time they expect you to arrive (30 min early) and maybe something else in the full duration they give you.

the number of questions were the same and i think teh time for each section is still same because Topscore, achiever, and kaplan would have mentioned the time change for sure somewhere. But it hasnt been.
