I don't think I've ever been this stressed out in my life. I took the DAT exactly a month ago and I did well, but I just read on the ADA website, while trying to find out why my AADSAS schools haven't received my scores yet, that you have to submit an auditing request. I was never aware of this and I just realized it. Is this true??? Has everyone who took the DAT had to do this? I am on the verge of breaking down because it says on the form that you have to submit the request no more than 30 days after you take the DAT and its been about 31 days. Can someone please help me!! I am desperate at this point. I never realized that you have to fill out an audit form. I want to crawl into a hole and die right now.

What?

No, you dont have to fill out anything for an audit.

The audit is only something you do if you think there was a mistake on your exam and you want the ADA to rescore it. Or the ADA does it if they think there was an "irregularity" (you cheated)

The ADA does supposedly do an audit of your exam on their own before they send your "official" scores out. But they dont notify you of that nor make you pay more money or fill any forms out for it.

Supposedly it takes the ADA a "month" or so to send the scores, thats what I have been told my people at the ADA. Dont sweat it, they will send your scores soon. You can call the ADA from the number on their website and ask them if your scores went out yet.

AADSAS does not have anything to do with sending out DAT scores. The scores go directly to the dental schools.

Where did you read that everyone has to fill out an audit? and did you read what an audit is?
Read it over again...

You're fine.

So none of you guys sent in the audit form? I wish they made it clear on the website that the auditing is optional.

http://www.ada.org/prof/ed/testing/dat/index.asp

Under Step 5, it says "Your test responses are audited for accuracy before official scores are reported to the dental schools requested on your DAT application."

I guess I assumed from the way it was worded that it was required. Thank you guys so much!!! You have no idea what a relief this is. I was just on the phone with my sister crying/freaking out cuz I thought that I just missed the deadline.

But just to make sure, I am going to email them 🙂

You need to relax. I can see how you got confused by the wording..

BUT

If you just continued to click on and read the PDF file on the ADA webpage:

http://www.ada.org/prof/ed/testing/dat/dat_audit_request_form.pdf

You would see that it says this

"...However, an examinee may make a written request to have his or her test responses audited, or re-checked for scoring accuracy..."

Thats what the fee and the form is. It is optional.
