DAT before Orgo II?

For those who have taken it, is there a good amount of orgo II on there? A bit pressed for time and would like to take the exam during july. Taking orgo I right now.


Just want to hear some opinions.

Haven't taken the DAT, but that sounds like a horrible idea. You'd have to spend a large portion of time studying just learning the new stuff and not reviewing.

It is definitely possible if you are a good test taker, motivated and have the time to work ahead. Get some good study materials (DAT Destroyer!) and buckle down. I took it 6 weeks into Orgo II and scored 27 on the Orgo section.

Yes there is a good amount of Orgo II on the test and yes it is possible to learn it on your own and do well on the DAT before taking Orgo II (but of course it will be more difficult).

I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. I took the DAT during Christmas break last year and had just completed Organic Chem I. As a result, I got an 18 on that section. There are just so many specific reactions and new things that you learn in Organic II. I could have killed the Organic section had I waited to take the exam until the summer. That's my 2 cents.
