Hey just have a few questions, I've been looking over bio exams (yes I saved every notebook, note, and test I've ever had in my science classes for this DAT), and I think this is a really good way to study for the bio section. Tons of questions, but the problem is I don't have the right ones for the ones I've missed. Just have a few short ones if anyone can help me out:

1) A high heat of vaporization of water indicates that...
a)water req a high T to convert to vapor
b)water req a low T to convert to vapor
c)water will boil @ 90 degrees C
d)water freezes @ 32 degrees C

I think its a), but I could be wrong cuz I took this class 2 years ago (bio 1) and didn't save the scantron, only the test: heres another one,

2) Unlike animal cells, plants have _ and _. Unlike plant cells, animal cells have _.
a) large central vacuoles...cell walls...centrioles
b)centrioles...large central vacuoles...cell walls
c)large central vacuoles....cell walls...cell membranes
d)chloroplasts...cell walls...cell membranes

At first I thought it was c), but is it not a)?

Another:
Microtubules, microfilaments, cilia and flagella, all follow the (9+2) arrangement of their protein generally made up of:
a)tubulin
b)actin
c)actin and tubulin
d)myosin

Is it c)? 🙄

Last one:
The hydrophilic part of a cell membrane (plasma membrane) is composed of:
a)phosphate
b)lipids
c)carbohydrates
d)proteins

Is it a)?

Thanks for the help, I'm taking a full length tomorrow, and I'll post how I do. Ciao.

pretty sure the 1st is a.

2nd is a.

edit: oops, hydrophilic, it should be phosphate (a).

depends on what organism we are talking about here.
the question itself is semi-correct

However, I can see what the author was thinking at the time he wrote the question
So, to appease the author I'd choose (c) actin & tubulin.
P.S. If he was my professor I'd go to his office to let him know his assumption wasn't completely correct..I'm sure the professor would have then tried to flunk me...
Reminds me of a true story in my own academic life...One time, in class, I proved to a professor it would take more than a semester to run his computer algorithm and given the computers we had his assigment wasn't doable in a single semester...shortly after, I was forced to take that class with another professor because the professor couldn't handle the truth...
I think that prof. was kicked out of school the following semester....
Lesson I learned: Never tell a professor he is wrong especially in front of other students...

😡 😡

what!!!!!! :meanie: :meanie:
what university did you go to? those are some of the easiest questions I'VE ever ever ever ever seen!!!!!!!!!!! 😡 😡 😡

I could have aced that thing!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We never had it that easy!!!!!!!!!!!!

WHew.......It's so hard for dental schools to see the difficulty of course work when different schools have differing levels of difficulty...

...here's a FACT, in my University, in EVERY science class, ONLY 10 % of the students made A's 😡 😡 😡

I believe, in all schools, only the top 10% get an A grade.

but in my school, it's a RULE, no matter what, even if the entire class seems to do well, and all make A's / B's, my school will go by decimal places to make sure that ONLY 10 % of the Students get A's - NOW THAT'S EXTREME 😡 😡 😡

Hah...well I go to UF, its a pretty good school I guess, well known and good reputation...but bio in general is easy...I guess I just blanked on these questions. Just because a school hands out A's to the top 10% of students in no way is a measure of their degree of difficulty, . I took up to calc 2, got straight A's in math throughout college, and suck at QR. I think its more less the timeframe of how long ago this !@#$ was!

Ha, that's too funny. I took math up to diffeq (didn't get A's...wasn't trying) and I also suck at the QR.

QR is the hardest part of the DAT (Everyones knows it, I'm just the first to admit it 😀 )
