Hey there everyone,

My DAT has been scheduled for August 19th, a week-ish from now. I’ve only been using BC to study and have scored kind of well on the practice tests so far:

(BIO/GC/ORGO/PAT/RC/QR
Subject tests 1-5 (averages) - 23/24/21/21/24/19
Full length test 6 - 23/30/23/21/27/19

But what I’m concerned about is that throughout the test, for BIO, ORGO, and PAT especially, I’ve always felt like I was making too many “educated guesses” about what the answers likely are, and it feels like my scores are lucky.
For those who have taken it or are about to take it, have you guys felt the same way? And can I expect these grades to resemble my DAT score, even though I feel I am taking too many guesses?
I also would appreciate advice on whether I should continue to take as many practice tests as I can or dedicate some more time reviewing especially for Orgo and QR. I don’t have much time left though :/

Because I’m applying kind of late, am not too good at personal statement writing, have only gotten interested in dentistry recently and don’t have too much experience related to it (only the minimum 100 hours shadowing), Im kind of worried and really want my DAT score at least to be in tip-top shape.

Any feedback is appreciated, sorry if my post is all over the place, and thank you!

Your scores look great. If other posts about this subject are any tell - you should do really well on the DAT (it seems like people generally do better on the real DAT than they did on their Bootcamp Practice Tests).

Also, educated guesses are what you should be doing. Use context and the obvious answer will come. It’s a test of your ability to apply the knowledge you have learned. It is not a test of how well your photographic memory was working that day.

For advice for the last week I feel it’s all personal preference.

Personally, I tried to relax the last week. You’ve been studying for months and there’s no reason to cram. Do some last minute holistic review or your notes (nothing too in-depth), then I would take one last practice test a couple days before the real DAT. Take a day to review it and then have at least one day of DOING ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. Yeah. I found that taking a day off allowed me to approach the DAT as an enjoyable test on how well I’ve prepared. I think it payed off, but a 22 AA/ 23 TS is seemingly average compared to others on this forum.

Good luck! You will do much better than you expect!

Thanks for the reassurance and advice! Yeah I’ve taken two full length tests so far and they’re very exhausting. I think I’ll do one more at most and just start light reviewing weak spots. I’m really hoping that that score/DAT trend is true for me too. And congratulations on the amazing score!
