DAT BREAK DOWN 2016 (Needing advice whether I should retake)

I don't know if i should retake the test?

Also I wanted to talk about my test because it was nothing like the one that I practiced lol.. smh....It didn't even look like the ones from the ADA 2009 and ADA 2007. I don't know if they are changing the test up but the style of questions were nowhere near DAT bootcamp and DAT destroyer and Math Destroyer .... I don't know if the practice helped me get a okay scores but while I was taking the test... I felt like I wanted to cry lol ..... DAT Bootcamp's PAT seemed to best represent the PAT section. However, keyhole section seemed really weird... nothing seemed to fit the hole....

I used Chad's Video
Practiced with DAT destroyer and DAT Bootcamp

PAT

I used DAT Bootcamp to learn the technique
I practiced with Crack the PAT and DAT Bootcamp

QR and RC

Did not do much of prep. lol probably why I got such a low score on both of them

Your scores are very nice and unless you are trying to get into a school that requires a higher DAT score I do not think a retake would be necessary. You even admitted you did not prep for QR or Reading and still managed to do ok.

You TS score is above 20 which is fantastic, you have an excellent GPA which will show any dental school you are a dedicated and hardworking student.

I would like to address you DAT experience and say that I do not believe the DAT has changed in the areas tested , but I do feel the Bio section may have added questions that are longer and takes a little more thinking to answer, but nothing that can not be tackled.

The style of question was drastically different. If I remember right, I felt like the questions were so random. Nothing on cellular component, plant, photosynthesis, cellular respiration, and evolution. Now I think of it again. The Gchem and Ochem sections were pretty simple I guess. I guess DAT destroyer helped to make the test question seem easy. Thanks to you guys!

Also when I was doing the reading, I don't know if it is new or not, but mine on a single passage contained 7 question of which statement would support the following statement and less of the S&D question. I just felt really unprepared I guess.

Yo I know exactly how you feel. I just took my DAT as well a week ago, and my Biology section was "wtf" a lot of the time. I thoroughly knew every topic from cliffnotes/feralis notes and would scores 24-26 ( i think 1 test was a 23) on my DAT Bootcamp tests, and I scored a 22 on biology when I took the real thing. I had a bunch of really random questions that were not something I learned about. So I think I know how you feel.

As for your scores, I wouldn't retake. Your scores are competitive in a lot of places and your GPA is outstanding, so I personally wouldn't bother. I see no reason you wouldn't get accepted somewhere.

I am taking the DAT tomorrow and you are freaking me out with this post. Can you go into more detail of how the questions were different? Content wise the questions did not pertain to Feralis/Cliffs? How is that possible?

lol like the questions that you see on bootcamp and destroyer wouldn't be on there period. if you studied does two material you would be able to answer like 25 question right away and remaining question would be like wtf.... lol i had no questions on cellular respiration photosynthesis evolution or plant. half the test were like genetics and lab technique and related to meiosis lol ..... lol and make sure you use Bootcamp PAT lol my version of reading was awfully different from crack the reading lol

Yo my bio section was similar to yours, oddly enough. I had no physio, no cellular respiration, no plant stuff, i spent so much time learning all that stuff since I never learned it in school lol.

half the time I was like WTF and half the time I was like really DAT .... you are going to test me on stuff like this... I was so pissed lol hahaha dude waste of my time studying that, but I guess it's counts as the process right? if you really want to get a good score... you have to cover all your bases... lol I feel you bro lol but i guess we are good 22 isn't bad i guess. I was just expecting a little more

i don't know what you mean by rocks but a square looking object with billion sides yes lol.... I mean it was hard because some of the shape does seem to fit at all ... idk maybe i would pressured, but Im usually good with PAT though haha good luck bro... it feels so nice to be done though

Your GPA is solid and your scores are fine. You can always contact the schools you are interested in and ask them. There are other factors that school look at ( shadowing, research,.....)
