Hi guys,

Finally, DAT is done!!!! I feel like you guys help me out a ton so here is my way to give back... Gonna keep it short for now since I'm drained out.

PAT 22
QR 20
RC 21
BIO 22
GC 20
OC 22
TS 21
AA 21

Materials used: Cliff's AP bio, Feralis' notes, Chad's videos, DAT Bootcamp, CDP, CDR, CDS, DAT Destroyer

I studied on and off for about 1 month during the semester, then really focus to study for about 2 weeks during summer while taking physiology class. I think the DAT is not that bad after taking it so for all of you nerve-wrecks out there, you are gonna do great! A little about my background: I am a chemistry-biochemistry major at a state university, just recent graduated with a 3.87 GPA. So being said, my science background is strong... Well it's supposedly anyway.

The night before the test date, I was considered not show up for the test at all because I was not ready. I have only "really" studied for 2 weeks and I don't feel ready at all. I am also a super-procasinator so I did not take my study seriously enough- I would study for like 2 hours and then touch my phone and play with it! BAD MOVE... I believe I can get a better score even with 2 weeks study if I really focused . So I freaked out the whole night-->nauseous in the stomach-->could not sleep-->headache and you can fill out the rest. I dont know how I pulled of a 21AA with none below 20. It was as if I was dreaming and woke up and DAT is done LOL... Glad I made it out alive anyway!

Ok, sorry for babbling, here is the action:
BIO-22: Bootcamp (10/10), Feralis' notes (7/10), Cliff's AP (9/10), CDS (8/10)
This section is so random. I was confident with the physiology parts but I only have 2 questions on it 🙁 I am sure everyone test is gonna be different, and mine happens to contain a lot of genetics (mitosis, meiosis), but asked in a weird way. Like they really want to juice out the concept you understand. I have some straightforward questions as well but not many. I ended up marking 18 questions total. So my advice is not just memorizing the facts but really understand it. For example, dont just memorize the hormones and where they originates, but also what they do and how. In conclusions, don't try to memorize all the info but instead understand the concepts behind and then you can make educational guess (I believe they are changing the DAT's bio section and I may get some of the new questions in my test)
Overall, I think this section is not so bad...
Also, I didn't use Destroyer for this section so if you did, you will do great! Don't worry...

GC-20: Bootcamp (10/10), Chad's videos (10/10), DAT Destroyer
Well, I don't know how I get a 20 here. I reviewed GC the most out of any other sections. I know Chad's videos and notes inside out. Did Bootcamp and ranging from 22-30. I may mark some questions wrong because I was too sleepy haha... But GC is fairly easy on the real DAT. Know Le Chaliere's (sorry, i'm too tired) principles, gases, bonding, and simple calculation... I took 35mins on the Bio section and panick and thus it may be why. I honestly thought I scored better.

OC-22: Bootcamp (10/10), Chad's videos (10/10), DAT Destroyer
Same as GC, but may be slightly more difficult since I got more conceptual questions than rxn mechanisms. For this sections, I actually studied the mechanisms and understand how electrophile and nucleophiles act. It s easier after you understand how it works. If you are just gonna memorize the rxns, you may not get a 22+.

PAT-22: CDP, Bootcamp (10/10 for both)
Holy moly lucy!!!!!!!!!! I cannot make grids/tables for my PAT during the tutorial because my proctor specifically mentioned if i wrote anything down before the exam, my test result will be invalidated. So, wasting ~ 2-3 mins on the test.
Key holes: I have ROCKs... didnt believe they exists but they do!!! I was tiring of marking every Qs so I just thought i will go back the entire section later--> turn out did not even have time to do that!
Angle: I am good with Angle ranking for some reasons. I can always tell which angle is smaller/larger so this is easy for me!-->complete in <5 mins (~20-30sec/Q)
TFE: Get some hard Q's but also easy ones-->fair games--> I also remember 1-2 Q I have encountered before but I dont remember where-->So it's doable, do not stress abt this section
Cube counting: weird blocks, which I have to re count my cubes couple times and mess up my timing-->master CDP and you will be good to go...
Key Holes: fairly easy--> some Qs are even super easy with 2-3 folds
Folding: I was so worried on going back to the Key holes so I rush through this sections. Have to guess a lot but it's ok!!!

RC-21: English is my second language and moving to Cali worsen it and my accent is stronger now. So, this is where my luck contributes to my score. I swear that I was real lucky with 3 passages... (After the PAT, I was so shaking/panic and I keep praying to GOD... I was bursting in tears but hold it.... Tough guys!!! )
1st passage is biology heavy and I already know the info. 1/2 Qs I didnt have to read to get it right!!! (phew...)
2nd passage is talking about one of my family's member's company product so you go figured
3rd passage is really hard if you did not know the materials before hand. They will tell you the theory and give up an example and ask you to analyze how similar/different with the theory... Thanks GOD, I once again did not have to read much!
So guys I have not much to tell you because I was super lucky on this. There are people on SDN have the same RC and are native speakers and did not have the score I have. I can imagine it could be hard if you did not know the stuffs ahead so make sure to practice if you are weak at RC.
Another side note is that I did not study for this section at all. I did not have enough time. During those 2 weeks, I only went over the Science section. So I am super happy with this score.

QR-20
I did not used Chad's for this section because I did not have time and I am pretty confident with math! I did 5 Math Destroyer and constantly get 36/40 or better with a little over 45 mins. I thought I would get a 30 on this one after Q #40. They are very simple conversions, easy prob, trig, geometry... Dont know why! May be too rush and clicked the wrong answers 🙁. I was too tired anyway

Finally, my thought in the DAT is that it's definitely doable! Just have to know your materials well and make sure to understand the concepts behind (I keep repeating this but it's true!) Get off your phones, shows (I finished PLL season 5 and Breaking bad during 2 weeks of study so you see how distracted I am), games, love life, whatever! Dedicate just for the DAT if you want to do well. Good luck! I hope you all the best!

P/S: I may update/change to make it more helpful for you guys later but right now I'm too tired! If you need proof, let me know, otherwise Im lazy to upload! My score is not phenomenal anyway comparing to the AA25+ out there heehee! Gotta appreciate what you have....

Many thanks to John Chen (the master of LOS) who I did not believe went out and help me during the time I needed the most! Thank you for replying so quick!!!

I think it is happening. Biology section has been applied the changes. many people have been discussing about it. I am worried for my next DAT af.

What do you mean by rocks.... Did you literally have a figure in the shape of a rock for keyhole...? This changes everything! Lol

Yes, they are just very very irregular shapes. Very bulky and weird.

Bootcamp is working on getting more practice for those from what I know.

I really doubt it is going to be any different. There has always been some conceptual questions here and there besides just straight memorization. In my opinion, the concept isn't too bad.

For example, you may have a question that you have a drug that inhibits the sodium and potassium pump, will the inside of the membrane have more sodium than the outside?

Most of the Q's are easy to figure, just a couple random Q's that you have no ideas even with the book in front of you. I have 2 Q's about genetics and they give you a situation and ask you to analyze the outcome! I think those Q's are the one I got wrong...

This is going to be me real soon.

Awesome job though! 🙂
I think the key for the DAT is focus with your study and do not stress about it! It is very doable... not like the MCAT. So do not follow my footstep and I am sure you will kill the DAT. Trust me! Relax, calm your mind before going to the DAT. It will help you think better and 50%of the DAT is about your analyzing skill, not memorizing!

Do not stress yourself about the changes. There are only a couple Q's, and the majority are easy ones. Trust me, if I can pull off a 22 in BIO, you will get better if you really focus!
