First Time post, Long Time reader...

Just took my DAT today and I am relieved to say the least! That extra, extra long survey at the end, I think my heart was beating faster than it ever has!

But it all paid off...

PAT: 20
QR: 19
Reading: 24
Biology: 20
General Chemistry: 20
Organic Chemistry: 21
Total Science: 21
Academic Average: 21

Wow, is ALL I can say. All of the hard work over the past couple weeks and months has finally paid off, and now it's finally time for a vacation!!

The one and only source I used for my sciences was DAT DESTROYER! I can't say enough about it. Going through the book between 3 and 4 times and rereading each question and answer choice is a must to do well. The easy thing to do is going through it multiple times, seeing a question you remember and quickly saying "C". The way to go about it is to still read the question, think quickly, set up any formulas and numbers, and then knock it out of the park! I did this for each Biology, Gen Chem, and Orgo.

For PAT I used Crack the Dat, and it was great. Any where you can get PAT practice is always a benefit. On youtube I found a tic tac toe method for hole punching which I used and worked really well.

I am naturally a reader. I read a couple books a month, and have always retained information that I have read well. I skim the entire article quickly, get a good idea of where everything is and then go to the questions and read/search/destroy. I had about 6-7 minutes after the last article (to give you an idea of my speed) and was able to go through some of the marked questions.

But at the end of the day DAT DESTROYER IS HOLY GRAIL!!!!!!

I will leave that as my last word!

Congratulations!!! awesome solid score.. now its time to relax and enjoy the holidays..
I wish I could get your scores, I'm taking it in few days. Now that you mentioned the destroyers, I will go back and re read it before the test.
Were you able to finish QR questions? were they similar to math destroyer? or you just used the questions on the back of dat destroyer??

congrats again :clap:

Hi @zoey1234

Thank you for your congrats!!

I cannot stress enough how great the destroyer was for me. And I must say, if you start going over them and feel a bit shaky, do not be too confident, and instead delay, take the time to understand what is in the book, and then go and ace that DAT!!!

I was able to finish all of QR. I actually was expecting a bit of a higher score in QR as it has been one of my stronger points. I used the Math Destroyer for that. Focusing on the types of problems that gave me more trouble. (Choosing to skip the algebra/geometry questions, and going on towards the mixture/distance/probability questions, no need to waste time knowing something you know cold!)

Amazing scores! Congrats!! Your hard work definitely paid off.

Question for you: my DAT is less than 2 weeks away and I'm not feeling too shabby with GC and OC. But my goal is to just plow through the destroyer as much as I can. It's been taking long with going through the book, but whatever I do, I'm truly understanding the problems and it sticks. I don't think I can finish the whole book 3-4x like you did, but I think if I go through it twice, do you think that would suffice to at least crack a 20?

Also, how long did you study?!

I have a question or a concern I would say.
I have the DAT destroyer 2010 version. It has got 370 Biology Questions, around 240 Gchm and Ochm.
I am not sure which version you used but do you think I need to get the new version? Will it be a big difference?
I am just tied on money and I want to see if it is a huge difference between the versions.

Hey guys, I am going to answer all I can right now, I will be on vacation after this post and won't be returning for a couple of weeks... that being said I will address anything and everything now and when I am back, so just to expect that delay.

@gryffindor29
I definitely think 2 weeks with the destroyer will be very very beneficial. I kind of broke down each section into 3's. So for you and 2 weeks, I would try and do for example, Monday 1st third of Orgo/Chem/Bio, Tuesday 2nd third of each, Wednesday, 3rd third of each, maybe do pat/math/reading through those days and heavy on the Thursday, and then continue back with the 3rd's Friday (By that Sunday you would have completed Destroyer twice!- in just a week)... It takes a big commitment, waking up early and going through and through, but believe me it will be worth it in the end. I can't say for sure what will crack a 20, and how you are handling each section, but the Destroyer prepares you 150%, no such thing as overboard!!! You are not studying to the level of the test, you are studying and working beyond it to make your test day experience seem like youve been there, done that. Be confident with the Destroyer and Be Confident on the test!

@SyracuseOrange92 @Dentalogist
QR is a strong suit of mine that I didn't spend nearly as much time on as I did the sciences (my weakness in the beginning- NOT THE END!) I had the Math Destroyer, so I would try and take a test every other day and review them the following day. If i missed a day it wasn't the end of the world for me, it meant that I spent more time on sciences, which was more beneficial for me. By about 5-7 days before the test, I knew which questions I was nervous to see and just kept tackling those through the destroyer and become more confident in them.

@hongbinbaneben
Thanks!! Must say Reading I prepared for the least, but reading multiple books a month for years now is what developed and trained me for that. Many people have a method of only reading first line. first and last paragraph that when it's time to look for the answers, they don't really have a clue where words will be, and you are searching for a couple of words in 10 paragraphs of reading, it definitely works for some so I give credit to them, but I just skimmed the entire article very fast, now I had an idea and decent knowledge of the reading, and when it is time for the questions, you should know where each area of content will be more clearly, and some even be able to answer without looking for that one sentence you didn't read, and now have to find.

@One Piece
Hmm, I would say everything in those books you will need to know and it will definitely help prepare you for that content, but the 2014 Destroyer I used had 500+ Biology, and 300+ Chem, OChem, which is always the best case. If you feel like you may need the extra review, and information then go for the 2015, but if you are a strong sciences person and feel comfortable maybe you can get by using the 2010.
