Just got done taking the DAT! FYI bootcamp is all you need.
EDIT: I started studying around 10-12 weeks ago starting mid-April. I studied anywhere from 4-8 hours a day depending on how actively I was learning.
BIO: This score shocked me. I was not expecting this high of a score. I think I had an easier exam or were just given questions on the material I learned from my undergrad. Starting off I was following Ari’s schedule but found it didn’t work very well for me with work (15-20 hr week) and classes, so I just tried to read a chapter each day. I did this until I finished the shortened bio notes, then I didn’t look at bio again until I started practice tests. On my practice tests for the questions, I got wrong I would write a flashcard for literally EVERYTHING in the explanation. I think this is why I did so well. I went over the question bank the week before my exam and probably did 3-4 sections of bio bites. I would recommend doing all the bio bites, but I felt that my previous classes prepared me well. I was hoping to score a 19. 100% breadth over depth. Was also happy I didn’t get any taxonomy because I barely skimmed over it.
GC: For this I just watched the videos and did the question banks. GC was never my thing, so I was hoping to score above an 18. There was way more calculations (probably half of my actual DAT) then I thought. So remember how to do those.
OC: I started off OC – probably took me about a month to get threw everything and remember all the reactions. I understood the theoretical stuff, but reactions were hard to remember. To remember reactions, I wrote down all the reactions in the notes, then went and did the extra practice and made flashcards for those reactions I got wrong and then attempted the question bank. I felt really good about OC so I was expecting what I got.
PAT: Was hoping to better than what I got but am happy with my score. The real DAT seemed on par with what are on the Bootcamp PAT tests. Studying this I watched all the videos and then maybe used the generators once a week. It came pretty easy for me but angle ranking was tough.
RC: I thought I was walking out of my test with a 30 for RC. The questions seemed so much easier than what was on Bootcamp, but I guess I was wrong. Had a 13, 17, 5 paragraph passages. Only practiced this when taking full length tests.
QR: Was happy with the score I got. Only practiced QR on the full-length exams and then through my wrong answers. Day before my exam I probably did 10 questions from each question bank and called it good. Seemed way simpler than the questions on Bootcamp. If I would’ve done QR every day I would’ve scored a 30.
I think Bootcamp prepared me enough for the exam, also throwing a little bit of luck in there too. If I didn’t put off bio for so long I would’ve done all the bio bites. If anyone has any questions feel free to pm me.
Scores: AA22,TS22,BIO25,GC19,OC23,QR19,RC23,PAT22
