Hey guys,

I just finished my DAT and I'm happy with what I got so a little breakdown is in order to hopefully calm some nerves. Never did I truly think I would get a 20. I had 23 written everywhere while studying to motivate me haha, I was aiming for the stars but I knew my rocket ship probably wouldn't get off earth🙁 BUT IT GOT TO THE MOON! 20!

Bootcamp!
It was rare for me to get over a 20 and i got a 20 AA on the test!
The missing scores are for days where I had the flu and only did the first few parts

Preparation:
I bought the crack pat over winter break and thought I could use the free time there to really get good at the pat but lone behold, I didn't even go on it for the first time until three weeks ago when my semester ended. I started studying the 9th so exactly three weeks later was my test, which I think was a pretty good amount of time. The first two weeks I learned everything (or relearned it from a few years ago) and the last week I took tests and reviewed a little more. I think that three to four weeks is optimal because at the end of it I was starting to forget things but everyone's different so do what you feel is best. My three weeks wasn't nose to the grindstone the whole time either. The first two weeks I would wake up and study until around 4, and then hang out with my girlfriend. The last week I studied until dinner time, so like 6 haha, and then relaxed and did whatever the rest of the night. A few days ago on memorial day I got the flu and was out of commission for two days so I was nervous that it was going to kill any momentum I had going but I took a bootcamp test that re-upped my spirits.

Materials:
Crack pat, Chad, Destroyer, bootcamp.

Crack pat (9/10): I didn't really use it as much I should have but it was helpful to start to learn from this. The real DAT was around the same difficulty in everything but keyholes.

Chad (10/10): I've known Chad for a while now as he has held my hand through orgo I and II haha. When I watched Chad I usually wandered off and starting looking at my phone so thats not good but I took notes on the things he wrote down. Pretty much saved me on orgo.

Destroyer (10/10): The first thing I looked at was bio and I started reading some old AP bio book I had (I forget what it was but I've seen it before on other people's study materials). This was an honest to goodness waste of time because nothing I read was being retained. I was like "hey look I'm already at the chapter quiz!" but then proceeded to have no idea on the first five questions. So I busted out the Destroyer and started doing questions. I was very discouraged at first and made it through the first time with like 25% of them right, if that. I'm not saying the real DAT is going to be as hard as these questions are, but I think all but two questions I had today could be found somewhere in it.

Bootcamp (10/10): Bootcamp made me feel comfortable to take the test. I think I only learned a few things from bootcamp knowledge wise but it was top notch for replicating the real deal so I'm 100% glad I had it.

Real Test Part:

I got to the testing center 30 minutes early, reviewed my notes last minute and then got in there. Nothing special about this part except I wanted to play calming music because I was worrying a lot, but my car doesn't have a working radio so I just sat in fear and silence the whole way 🙁

Bio:
I started the test and was quickly down on myself. I laughed about not knowing the first few with my mom before I left, because how terrible would that be to start out the test not knowing like the first five. But woweee, I wasn't sure on probably the first seven so the ruined my confidence up until around question 20. Then I started to get some easy ones and faith was restored in me. This section wasn't that bad looking back on it, just there were a few I wasn't sure of. Destroyer got me that 19!

Gcem:
This looked a lot like bootcamp, I was sure I had seen everything before. No tricky questions in here. After I finished I looked this back over and found some errors, I think once I was finished with everything I could more easily grasp the longer more wordy problems because I was able to take a step back from them and find out what they wanted and what answers seemed logical.

Ocem:
I was really nervous about this section before, but it is nothing to be scared of. The reactions were all pretty simple and I think on every question I at least had some sort of idea of what to do. I'm not that good at orgo, my score isn't the best either, but I thought it was very doable and shouldn't make you worry.

PAT:
This was just like the tests I had been practicing. I never used the popular cube counting method of counting the total cubes and adding everything up. That always took too long for me. What worked best for me is just trying to find the cubes as they ask me, then I made sure this was the first section I looked over after I was finished. This got me to 15/15 on almost all my practice tests.

RC:
I had a cool reading on geckos and really enjoyed that one. Another was dense with big science words I didn't like so that one was the lamest. The last one was between with two as it was very fun to read but it was easy to answer the questions.

QR:
Wow I thought math was honestly going to be my highest. I had always planned on this portion to save my scores haha but I was wrong. The test wasn't even too challenging besides one trig question I just guessed on so I must have made a bunch of dumb errors here and there. Only one question asked me a trig identity, that's what I knew I was never going to study because to me one possible question isn't worth all the hassle.

Wrap-up:
I'm so happy with my scores and I'm so excited. I was able to study and have fun in the three weeks I studied so it really isn't that bad! Good luck to everyone studying for this one! (Sorry for anything spelled wrong or bad grammar, my eyes were getting droopy near the end of this haha). Feel free to ask any questions about what I did.

Congrats! 🙂 I agree with what you said about Chad. Saved my butt in OC too. Thanks for the breakdown! Enjoy the summer... [emoji120]
