Hi, guys. I have been reading threads on SND since March, and have gotten so many useful information; so I want to give back to this community by writing out my own experience.
I took DAT twice. The first one is this March, the second which is gonna be the last one is July 11th. So here are my scores:
1st attempt: 2nd time:
PAT 20 PAT 22
QR 23 QR 27
RC 16 RC 19
BIO 21 BIO 26
GC 23 GC 30
OC 20 OC25
TS 21 TS 28
AA 21 AA 25
So as you can see, I retook it mainly to improve my RC. I have talked to several schools that I am really interested in, they all suggest me to get a higher RC score. Since English is my second language, I have only been in the states for 4-5 yrs, I doubted if I can really improve it in 3 months......But I told myself that just study as much as I can, so I wouldn't be regret that I even didn't myself a chance. So here it is, I am very satisfied with a 19🙂 Just want to tell everyone who is struggling: Just do your REALLY best, and GOD will do the rest!
SO study materials:
For the first time, I used only Kaplan BB and it's online study material, and I had a private tutor for around 50 hours. It's VERY expensive; I was Broke after that................She is such a nice lady; she tries her best to help me. I am very impressed and thankful, but to be honest, she is not very good at it. She could introduce DAT basic info to me, but she wouldn't help me with those details and challenge questions; plus that she is on the same level as me in PAT and worse in OC........... But I am still very Thankful for her help. SO SUGGESTIONS FOR ANYONE WHO IS THINKING ABOUT GETTING A KAPLAN TUTOR: Think about it wisely, they could help you to build a base, but maybe not anything further and definitely not good enough for the real DAT. Since it's SOOOOOOO expensive, maybe you can do it by yourself..... For questions, ask the tutors in your school if your school offers free tutor sessions.....
Study time: 8 weeks
2nd Time:
Achiever 7 test version: i did all the PAT (score 16-18) and RC ( score 14-18, most 16s) . and I did 5 TS, score from 17-19. I'll say their GC is TOOOOOOOO difficult and away different from the real Dat, I don't suggest doing it. But I would advise people the RC and PAT, if you are really struggle with them. After doing AC, I consider everything else much easier. AND THE REAL PAT keyhole and TFE for me is similar to AC and DAT Bootcamp.
Dat Bootcamp:
Get this!!!!! It's very representative to the real DAT, except QR. The real QR is much easier, but I really liked it to be harder, because it makes to study harder and work faster. After practicing DAT BT, I have 5 min left in the real DAT🙂 They have 6-10 PAT now, I notice them one day before my DAT. If i had time, i'll definitely do them!!! I score between 20 to 23 in science portion
DAT Qvault: Similar to DAT BT. Close to the real DAT, except it's a little harder, which is good to me. I score 18- 23 in science portion. PAT 19-21. math 25-26 RC18-21 I really likes their RC, even though a a lot of people say it's too easy; but I consider it's similar to the REAL RC, maybe just a little bit easy. they have harder passages after exam 3.
Crack DAT PAT and RC:
I practiced them only because they have 10 PAT and RC. I DIDN'T finish everything, but i just feel they are not so similar to the real DAT. They have similar RC topics similar to the real DAT, but in a different aspect.
I also practice a little Kaplan online test, not too much.
4 Days before my DAT, i took the 2009 dat, got a AA 21, RC 18, PAT 20............THAT WAS VERY VERY DISCOURAGE FOR ME........... I could accept it if that's my real 2nd DAT......what did I do in the 7 weeks?!!
I even didn't want to take my 2nd DAT because of it. Guys, Don't do it like me!!!!!! From MY LITTLE EXPERIENCE, NO PRACTICE SCORES CAN PREDICT YOUR REAL DAT. JUST KEEP STUDY AND REALLY DO YOUR BEST, GOD HAS PLAN FOR YOU. Never give up!!
One the real DAT, I want to mention one part about RC is that, they require you to so like 5 calculation questions ........It takes a lot of time.... I would suggest people doing Achiever RC 2, it's kindda similar...
It's such a long breakdown..... I didn't expect that..... I just hope anything I mentioned could help people a little 🙂 Feel free to ask me questions, i'll try my best to help
