I am a canadian student who wrote the american dat. Wrote my DAT today and am pretty upset with my results, all my practice tests were higher for gchm and ochem and i actually didn't finish any of the sections: as in I LEFT THEM BLANK! i got nervous, and started spending too much time on pat, rc and sci sections and left questions BLANK! I knew my stuff quite well but stumbled upon 1 question and started slowing down, it was a matter of timing. Anyways i most likely will re-write but i hope some of you can learn from my mistakes.
i am currently attending university of western ontario. My gpa - first year 2.0, 2nd year low 3, and this year a solid 4.0, got 2 more years (decided to stay back a fifth). story is that i did nothing in first year and second year i started developing good habits and last year i was on top of stuff. if i continue with school i can conservatively expect a sci gpa of 3.7, and a cgpa of 3.5 ish (i calculating this using all my current marks and marks i expected to get, but expected the worst aka i didn't get a full 4.0 for my last 2 years. but with these scores, given i am an international student what should i aim for, for my scores?
BIO - 23 98%
GCHEM - 20 80%
OCHEM - 20 80%
PAT - 24 99%
RC - 19 58% (easy passages, i just screwed up)
QR - 21 96%
TS - 21 91%
AA - 21 93%
EDIT - i just added the percentile, i didn't put exact numbers b/c i dont have the sheet with me but i remember the percentiles quite well
i am aware that these are above average scores, but again i am an international student and my gpa is questionable b/c of my first 2 years of university, so i have been pretty upset with myself, of course my only goal is to get into dental school and am really feeling down right now b/c i don't know what scores are needed for applicants that are canadian/international. i will be applying next cycle btw.
Bio - dat destroyer, qvault, the princeton review, ap bio
qvault - avg 22
all in all dat destroyer is number one! qvault + dat destroyer is all u need. make sure u understand the concepts instead of pure memorization. all of my questions (except 2) were application of weird experiments and substrates with weird chemicals, but if u understand concepts u will do well!
Chem/orgo - datqvault, chads
qvault - avg 23 for both orgo and chem
- i was expecting much higher in these scores, than what i got, i am really upset on fact that i got nervous and just didn't finish these questions, i got stuck on a question and didn't know what was happening, i crashed.... destroyer and chad is all u need though
quant - i was expecting lower than i got here b/c i used math destroyer and was getting 19 on all of them. math destroyer was the best here and i would say almost all my questions were derrivatives of math destroyer
pat -
crackpat - avg 23
achiever - avg 18
i didn't finish this section but did well. i left 5 questions UNANSWERED! i have a huge problem with timing and getting stuck on questions and dwelling on them for excessive periods of time.
keyholes - same difficulty as achiever
tfe - same as crack
angles - in btwn achiever and crack
folding - easier than either
folding - same as achiever
rc - i left 5 of these UNANSWERED! i dont understand what my problem is, i don't blame the test i blame myself. just watch out for time, which i clearly did not do, and don't leave them blank
