Finally Done!!!
After all that studying, I’m very excited to be able to post my DAT breakdown:

PAT: 19
QR: 17
RC: 22
Bio: 22
GC: 22
OC: 23
TS: 22
AA: 21

Biology:

For this section I used the dat destroyer. The destroyer was spot on; it had very similar questions to the actual dat. The explanations for the questions in the destroyer were amazing and you should definitely read all of them as opposed to just reading the explanations for the questions you get wrong. I also used Campbell’s bio book to review the sections that I didn’t know well.

GC:

For this section I used the destroyer, the questions in the destroyer were much harder than the actual dat, so if you master this section in the destroyer you will do well on the actual dat.

OC:

I personally thought this was the easiest section; for the most part it was very basic organic chemistry questions. The destroyer covered everything you need to know for this section and if you understand all of the questions in the destroyer, you will do very well on the actual dat. For this section, I also used maitland jones’s orgo tb to go over the sections that I needed to review.

PAT:

For this section I used Crack DAT PAT, some of the sections were harder on the actual DAT than crack dat and some were easier. Overall the actual PAT was a little harder but my score was very close to my crack dat scores of which my average test score was a 20.

QR:

For this section, I used the dat destroyer and the math destroyer. The math destroyer was much harder than the actual dat, but it covers everything. This was by far my worst section. The timing was really the reason I did so poorly. I should have timed myself while taking the math destroyer tests. I would definitely advise that you skip the harder questions and then go back to them. I spent way too much time on the harder questions and I ended up having to just quickly guess on easy questions that I know I could’ve gotten right.

RC:

For this section I used Kaplan, it was an amazing resource for the reading section. I would just advise to read the passages very quickly.

Good luck to all of you! I’d be more than happy to answer any questions you might have.

Thx for the breakdown and great job! How long did you study and did you use any other materials for bio? Also for oc and gc did you use anything other than the maitland you mentioned?

Thanks guys! I studied for about three months before the exam. I didn't use anything other than what i've mentioned other than referring back to my class notes once in a while. The destroyer was by far the main source i used for studying. The other materials that i mentioned, i just used to re-learn areas that i felt i was weak in.

Congrats on taking the DAT & awesome scores! I plan on taking the DAT in a couple of months, do you have any more study tips or suggestions that might be helpful?

Thanks! My best advice would to make sure you time yourself while taking practice math tests, I didn't really time myself while practicing, which was my biggest mistake. The math itself wasn't so hard, but you have very little time for this section. Learn how to skip hard questions and move on!

The sciences were pretty straight forward if you study hard for them, but there were def some hard questions. You shouldn't focus too much on the questions that you weren't sure of while taking the exam, because that will just make you feel like you are doing worse than u actually are and it will make u feel nervous.

For reading i found the mapping method to be very helpful, and skim through the passages very quickly as you don't have much time.

For pat i thought that crack dat pat was very helpful, but the actual pat was harder for most of the sections, so if u can use another program in addition to crack dat pat i think that would be helpful.

GL!!!

I'm still learning new material right now, and then I will start practice tests. Studying for this test is giving me so much anxiety!

So I should just skip questions that I think are too hard? Am I able to come back to them later if I have time remaining?

Thank you so so much and once again 🙂

Yeah, on the test u have the option to mark a question and then when u finish, if you have time, u will be able to review all of your marked questions. So if you're having a hard time with a question u should just guess, mark it, and go back to it if you have time. No problem, i'm glad to help!

Nice job and solid scores man! Did you encounter any plant questions or were they mostly genetic/ecology/taxonomy/physio intense?

I guess the Best thing is to be prepared for everything, do not expect everything will be easy going on your test. But definitely it is a very good feeling when you know you studied very hard.
