Are the DAT science sections as tough and as detailed as the GRE ones? Cause I just looked at the GRE practice exams they put up on their website and they cover alot of stuff: genetics, biochem, and other stuff. How does the DAT compare to the GRE?

From what I remember from the GRE that I took last summer, it only covered a verbal, math and writing section. So when comparing the GRE to the DAT, they are not similar at all. What GRE are you taking?

The DAT does not test on any material beyond the basics covered in introductory general chemistry, organic chemistry(mostly first semester) and general biology. Whereas the GRE subject tests assume cumulative knowledge gained during upper division classes in a four year degree in a specific major. In other words the GRE test in biology or chemistry is going to be much, much more rigorous and comprehensive than anything you will find on the DAT.

Thanks God, I was scared there for a moment looking at this GRE stuff. Some geniuses on this site told me to go use GRE study guides to prep for the DAT. So i looked at it, and almost $hit myself.

Having taken both the GRE and DAT, I disagree with BiOGoly's comments. I believe that the DAT is more rigorous and challenging than the GRE. I did pretty well on the GRE-got in to grad school and completed my M.S. degree. The DAT on the other hand was my downfall-didn't get into to D-school and I am having to face the thing again! 🙁
