Reaction score

Just finished my DAT:
Perceptual ability - 20
quantitative reasoning - 18
reading comprehension - 22
biology - 23
gen chemistry - 21
organic chemistry - 20
Total science- 21
Academic Average - 21

Overall I am happy, but while the test was ongoing I thought I was killing it so I am a little disappointed with the outcome.

For sciences I used the 2014 dat destroyer and felt it was very comprehensive. I didn't even look at another bio book and I felt it very prepared (make sure to carefully read the answers in the destroyer as a lot of the information was only written in the answers). I should have more carefully memorized the reaction maps that are in destroyer for orgo and for chemistry I found some questions very weirdly worded that threw me off.
Obviously there was a few questions i had never seen before and had to make an educated guess, but i don't think its possible to know every single thing
For PAT I used crack PAT and it was good for all the sections besides for hole punching. on my DAT the holes looked a different size and that again threw me off.
Math I used math destroyer and only had time to complete it once, felt it was very helpful, especially the information contained at the beginning of the book.
Reading comp I have always been a good reader and didn't need to practice that.
For my study habits i studied maybe 2 hours at night (I have a job) for probably two months and then went crazy for three weeks and put in a solid 8 - 10 hours a day (very little sleep). I definitely could have done more to study and prepare so leave yourself more time and spread it out more

Let me know what you guys think

Solid scores...im sure youll get in somewhere. can you tell me what the NMR/IR questions were like (If you had any?) I kinda suck at that (like super terrible at them) so i just wanted to sort of gauge the level of difficulty i should be expecting.

congrats on your scores :claps:

Excellent work. Many people would kill to have those scores.

NMR/IR is all about practice. Memorize the IR peaks and chemical shifts and then do a lot of practice problems. There are certain peaks like alcohol, carbonyl and carboxylic acid that are just dead giveaways once you get the hang of it. Same goes for NMR.

On mine the only NMR questions I had were, "How many signals would this compound's CNMR produce?" and "what splitting patterns would this HNMR produce?" No IR, very basic, look for symmetry!

Good job. I too had issues with the size of the holes in hole punching. I would consistently score 14 or 15/15 in all practice tests but I know I missed a few due to holes that were smaller than normal and like nothing I had seen before.
