Hi guys...

I took the DAT in July 2005, and unfortunately my score is expired at this point. Has the DAT changed at all from what you guys can tell over the past 2 years, or is it the same test? I'm talking in terms of difficulty and general content on the test. I'm planning on taking it again next summer when I finish my masters degree.

Thanks

I took the DAT in July 2005 and then again in July 2007. I thought the test was basically the same. It was easier for me the second time around because I studied way more efficiently with better books etc. Test format, question difficulty seemed equal to me.

I keep hearing the test is getting harder, but it's probably just people trying to justify their score.

This is why I ask, because with competition going up and scores along with it, I figured they might have bumped up the difficulty to normalize scores... or something. 🙄

hey iceman, wow, you basically just described my story. i'm doing masters now, and took my DAT july 05 (also expired 🙁). nothing has really changed since that time in terms of the material, save for variation in difficulty among different test versions. i too am planning on taking it next summer.
how are you preparing? i took kaplan first time, it was great, got 90th percentile in nearly all the sections. im thinking of doing kaplan again (expensive, i know, but i'd rather be safe and not have my regrets later). also, i guess i'll try this DAT buster/destroyer or whatever these kids call it these days.

oh and in case you're wondering, i'm not stalking you. my ice-man icon is cause i liked him the most in x-men when i was growin up👍.

personally, I took the DAT about 1 year apart.

I feel that the test-preparation materials I used did not help me as much for the 2nd time. Alot of the biology questions (like 1/2) were based on human physiology, which was a little strage to me becasue the first time around there was a more even mixture of everything.

PAT, was the same, Reading was the same, Math was the same.

Gchem my 2nd time had ALOT of definition/theory type problems compared to the first time around, I found them kinda tricky

Ochem my 2nd time I thought I aced, but it turned out to be my lowest score of the test. Maybe they started using questions and tricks to problems that are not as easily prepared for using the test preparation material.

I prepared with kaplan also the first time around. I took the class, which was a waste of time and $$ personally. Next time around I'll prob read through the kaplan book again and also get DAT destroyer which everyone raves about. I def need to do better the second time around, even though its been 2 yrs.
