Dat dates, how it works

I wonder what is the process to take the Dat, aside from preparing for the test.

What I mean is, how can I choose the date for the exam, let's say I want to take it in late August. Can register for that date right now, and then if I felt I am not ready to postpone to another day in September? Would they allow me to reschedule, I really have no idea how this works!
I was reading Prometric Test Center faq, and they said it was possible to reschedule with a fee, but they didn't specify if it was for dat or for another test. Also, do we take the test in a room alone, or with other test takers? Is there a deadline before rescheduling

Other test takers and they could be taking anything. You might be able to now but wait another 2-3 months to register. They will process your fee and everything for about a week before you can actually register, then take the DAT at whatever time you want.
